If your child is acting out, starting a conversation about what’s going on can feel really difficult. Here are some tips on how to talk to your child about their behaviour. 1/ Use simple phrases such as: "I feel worried you’re not happy." or "I notice there is a lot of shouting happening." 2/ Make it clear that the behaviour is the problem, not them or their feelings. Be specific about the behaviour you have noticed, without using labels or negative words such as ‘naughty’, ‘bad behaviour’ or ‘horrible’. 3/ Explain why the behaviour is not okay. It's important for your child to understand why their behaviour is not okay. For example, you might say that while it’s normal to feel angry, it hurts other people when they hit, or it hurts your feelings when they shout at you. 4/ Be curious, empathetic and non-judgmental. Try to understand things from their perspective. Let them know that it’s okay to feel however they feel, whether that’s sad, angry, worried or something else. 5/ Reassure them that you love them and you want to help them feel happier and enjoy things again. 6/ Reach out to our Parents Helpline for more support. You can call us call us for free on 0808 802 5544, from 09:30am – 4pm, Monday – Friday. You’ll get through to a trained adviser who will listen and talk through your concerns in complete confidence. You are not alone in this.

Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. Every young person who reaches crisis point has been failed. Failed by a Government that hasn't invested in enough early intervention and prevention. And by a stigma that prevents us from reaching out. Together let's unite against suicide.

@DrNickTwit @nnuhjlch @EDNNUH @ACPLaura That’s great it’s going ahead. I wasn’t sure if we were going to be involved as I hadn’t heard anything. Will be a good study.

Sadly, seven infants (aged under one) drowned in the bath between April 2019 and March 2022. In five of these cases, bath seats were being used. That’s why we’re urging parents to please remember that bath seats are NOT safety devices. Learn more: capt.org.uk/charity-urges-…
