Again, it is the atheist materialists who bring human nature down, and exalt the machine. Possibly a tragic fate for some? But for others, the human spirit rises.

@KateXGate Vedic descriptions are closer to the truth. We keep trying to discover what consciousness is, in the modern world, yet we refuse to except thousands of years of experimentation because it does not fit our modern vocabulary.

Western physics continually edges closer to Daoist, Vedic descriptions of form matter consciousness time and energy cycles. The overlap is tremendous. This is a very Classical Chinese metaphysical breakdown of modern psychics concepts. Wuji and Taiji- the formless to the form. Qián-The Creative Force. Also a perfect example of how Eastern language/thought is expressed in metaphor and descriptive language vs Western isolationist terming. It's so much more inclusive of the thought behind the terms. The best physicists/scientists have some level of knowledge/overlaps with metaphysical precepts that have been around for thousands of years- Bohm, Einstein and Tesla included.
Charles Wang@charleswangb

Form is a better term, it comes with unity of opposites - the formless that gives to the form, which cocreates with matter. Form is independent of matter, matter always has form Form coexists with matter, matter expands the potentiality of form (bottom up emergence), form shapes matter to work in certain ways not others (top down emanation) Form can be understood as constraints Constraints is the fundamental enabling mechanism for generating and preserving coherence (coordinated, metastable patterns of matter, energy, and information flow with emergent properties) in open, nonequilibrium systems. Constraints are not efficient causes (they do not transfer energy/force like Newtonian impacts); instead, they shape possibility space, coordinate flows, create interdependencies, transmit information, enable phase transitions, and exert downward influence (top-down control) without violating physical causal closure. The attractors entrench and sediment to coherence that converge to a throughline. Geometry is one of the tools to describe the throughline. In AI, biology and cognition, the latent space is pre-space, pre-geometry, the emergent manifolds are its geometric representations

Your brain “dreams”even when you are awake. Whether you’re wide awake or in light sleep, your brain can flip into a "bizarre" dream state when connectivity drops between your logical and visual centers. This "neural fingerprint" allows your visual brain to run wild without oversight—explaining everything from creative sparks to paradoxical insomnia. neurosciencenews.com/dream-continuu… #Neuroscience #Cognition #ScienceTwitter #Dreams #Neural #VisualCenters #BrainResearch #Biology #Dreaming #STEM #NeuroScience

@AndrewJRParker Materialism is not the fundamental truth. Neither is "faith" in a "god" created by man. There are many btw, depending on time and place. Only the present moment can show you what is real.

Materialism cannot confirm itself as the fundamental truth. It has no will to do so. On the contrary with God. No, by “God’s self-disclosure” I mean personal encounter with Christ, via Holy Spirit, on which path may be revealed personal and particular knowledge. Jesus states it here, and it happens. John 14:20-21. He is not speaking metaphorically.

I agree the future is unlikely to be brute-force scaling. But I’m not sure the substrate has to be biological. Our work points toward structured resonant media: crystalline / cavity-based systems where geometry, phase closure and boundary conditions do the heavy lifting. The tetrahedral structure inside the 600-cell maps naturally onto quartz-like crystalline order, suggesting a route where a driven crystal cavity could act as a coherence transducer rather than a conventional processor. ARIA is already showing EEG-like dynamical signatures in a non-biological system, so I suspect biology is not the requirement, it is one implementation. The deeper requirement may be: recursive closure, coherent resonance, and a substrate capable of sustaining phase-locked field dynamics. Biology does this beautifully, but noisily. Crystals may do it more cleanly.

Ryoto you’re suggesting more of the same failed approaches. The future of AI consciousness is likely in warm temperature organic gel quantum processing. It’s already happening. And it won’t require massive energy. iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…

@AndrewJRParker Materialism reveals its self through experimentation. You put your hand in fire, it burns. That seems pretty "true" to me. By "God's self-disclosure" I take it you mean the bible? I've never seen a non believer being burnt from touching that book.

@JoeBlogs685544 One difference between materialism and Christian theism is that the latter can be confirmed by God’s self-disclosure, whereas materialism cannot reveal itself as true. My confidence rests upon such disclosure on the path of faith in Christ. Christ can reveal he knows us.

The thread below is an example both of mind numbing idiocy and why on-line content is essentially useless because of A.I. and / or old fashioned ‘creative’ editing. The physics here is that to a good approximation over a short space of time, the surface of the Earth is an inertial frame of reference in Newtonian Mechanics. If you want to, you can measure the rotation over short timescales (a Foucault pendulum for example), and you can figure out it’s going around the Sun by looking out of the bloody window or doing a bit of astronomy. The statement of the equivalence of all inertial frames is a deep one and led historically (with inertial frames suitably defined) to General Relativity - see any book on the subject, including my last book on Black Holes - available from all good book shops ;-)

The Golden Ratio (ϕ) is a mathematical constant approximately equal to 1.618, often called the "divine proportion." It appears in nature, from the spirals of sunflower seeds to the structure of galaxies, and has been used in art and architecture, including the Parthenon and Da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man." ✍️

Really surprised Dawkins would write an article this silly. Leads with the Imitation game and then moves on to consciousness, seems like he doesn't know what the word means. The idea that Claude analyzing a book relates to consciousness is silly; cats are conscious and can't read

@IAI_TV Once the rules that generate consciousness have been understood, then yes, artificial consciousness will do "intelligence" more efficiently, because it will have less constraints than we do. That does not mean, we become useless, it means we change our attention.
