Software never charged you for the hours it took to build it. You pay for access. Use it when you need it. The labor behind it is irrelevant to the price. That model is about to hit every professional service industry. 1/7

@NoFilterSkin Yes to all of these. I tend to over research and analyze, probably even more so with AI. But it pretty consistently says such actions have the best outcomes according to research. Always open to adjusting behavior if research suggests a better approach.

If you’re a millennial parent you probably: - Apologize to your kids when you’re wrong - Explain the “why” behind your rules - Let them feel their feelings - Say “I love you” every single day out loud - Hug them after discipline instead of sending them to their room We’re not soft. We’re breaking cycles with intention.

My boss's boss is like 42, never married, no kids. Earns $275-300K per year. Goes on a minimum of two international vacations a year w/ his girlfriend. 10+ days, all out. Eats the best food, stays in top notch accomodations. Excursions, tours, nicest beaches, etc. Great guy, I'm happy for him. But what I've realized is that without kids, you end up chasing a lifestyle that has to continually be topped in order for you to be satisfied and find happiness. What he and others like him don't understand is that when you have children, seeing THEM experience life's most basic things and watching their eyes light up at all the "firsts", brings greater pleasure and joy than any vacation or travel experience ever could. Seeing THEM try blueberries for the first time is greater than dining at the best 5 star restaurant in Europe. Seeing THEM learn how to walk is greater than walking the Great Wall of China or strolling along the most picturesque beach. Watching THEM giggle uncontrollably at "peek-a-boo" tops any A-list comedian act. Seeing THEIR excitement when building a fort out of cardboard boxes and making a door big enough for daddy is superior to staying at 5-star resorts. Flying kites with THEM far outweighs excursions like parasailing or helicopter rides. Seeing THEM perform a recital on stage for the first time is more rewarding than watching a Broadway show or top notch symphony orchestra. ----------------- When you have children, all of a sudden you realize that life's greatest joys are not in the pursuit of things or pleasure or travel, but rather in the LOVE and bond you share with your very own image bearers. Seeing the beauty and magnificence and wonder of life all over again for the first time through THEIR eyes and expressions gives you something the world simply cannot offer, nor even come close.

AI will not replace the exceptional hire. Agents replace repeatable execution. Structured tasks. The exceptional hire does what agents cannot. Judgment. Domain depth. Relationships. Strategy. Do not compete with AI on execution. Build the thing it cannot replicate.

This is why a CPA is learning Python and statistics at night. To become a quantitative analyst with deep domain knowledge. Someone who can understand how the models work, verify their outputs, and use that understanding to optimize outcomes. That is Decision Science. That is what I am building toward. The labor hour is not what it was. The question is what you build in its place. What profession do you think gets disrupted first? Follow my journey.

For finance and accounting the question is not whether AI disrupts your work. It already is. The bigger threat is a competitor encoding their expertise into AI and packaging it as a subscription that replaces what you charge hours to deliver. To survive this you have to sell the outcome, not the effort. The firms that survive this will look more like software companies than service firms. 6/7

A Seattle man who shot and killed an eight-month pregnant Korean-American woman and nearly killed her husband when they were driving to work has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. Cordell Goosby m—rdered Elina Kwon and her unborn baby in June 2023 when they were stopped at a red light. Prosecutors did not charge him for killing the baby due to concerns about protecting abortion in the liberal state. After hearing testimony from defense medical experts that Goosby was "insane" at the time of the shootings, the prosecution agreed to have the case ended through the not guilty motion. Goosby will be committed to an institution and regularly evaluated to see if he is fit to be released to the public. ngocomment.com

Starting in the 2027-28 school year, California will offer a new personal finance course to high schoolers and require it for graduation beginning with the 2031 class. Every Californian should leave high school with the tools to manage money, avoid debt, and build wealth.

Seattle could immediately become one of the world's greatest cities if we embraced our tech industry 🛰️ @SpaceX just acquired xAI and to build the world's biggest industry ever ... Datacenters in Space Where are they hiring? Seattle. Where is @Starcloud_ (launched the first datacenter in space) based? Seattle. Why? Because we have the best satellite engineers in the world (@Starlink has had an office here for a while) Oh and @blueorigin HQ? Seattle. I grew up in Seattle and it's always been a place for the world's brightest tech talent. Sadly, this is changing ... Seattle's citizens seem to embrace an anti-tech, 'everyone who is successful is bad' culture (we drove away Bezos). This is so lame and killing our golden goose that has built the amazing PNW 🌲 It is my mission for Seattle to do a 180. Talk about how we have the most cutting edge satellite tech in the world. How this will enable a new era for humanity. Seattle needs to embrace its identity. We are building the future and should be proud of it 🌧️🗻🦾

@AnthonyMixerWA It wouldn't matter even if it were on the ballot and rejected 99 to 1. Why? Many who may vote against it will continue to vote these same politicians into office who vote for more taxes.

‼️BREAKING‼️ The income tax how has the most total sign ins of any bill in state history, with 83k individuals signing in. (The previous record being an estimated 80k on this same bill when it was heard in the Senate.) And over 90% of those weighing in are saying NO! Let’s keep it going everyone! app.leg.wa.gov/csi/Testifier/…

@joewallin Voters could reject it even better by voting out the politicians who voted to pass it. It is not a complex process but people are so blindly devoted to their political party of choice and incumbent politicians in particular that this option will never be exercised.

Jealousy drafts legislation. Washington’s “millionaire tax” won’t collect a single dollar until April 2029. So why did they declare it an emergency? Because the emergency clause strips your right to a referendum. No signatures. No ballot. No voter say. Washington voters have rejected income taxes 11 times. Legislators know that. So they called it an “emergency” to make sure you never get to vote on it. A tax that takes 3 years to collect isn’t an emergency. It’s a political maneuver designed to silence voters.

@GovBobFerguson You know what would help families, and the economy as a whole? Lower the sales tax rate. But that is not the goal, now is it? Tax policy isn"t even about revenue, it is about control.

The Working Families Tax Credit is a great program, but it needs to live up to its name. We can do that with a Millionaires' Tax. Let's dramatically expand how many families qualify — 460,000 additional — and how much they receive — a 30% increase.
Governor Bob Ferguson@GovBobFerguson

I’ve said that any Millionaires' Tax I sign must send a significant percentage of that revenue back to Washingtonians. The Senate came out with a good start. Here's my proposal for cutting taxes on small businesses, getting money to working families, and reducing sales tax.
