Programming can sometimes feels like a juggling act of relearning/retaining things you already know whilst trying to cram in an endless pit of new trends This snippet of a @jeffrey_way talk is seriously the most comforting thing a developer can hear: bit.ly/2oi1ifx

@aarondfrancis Thank you Aaron!!! Been loving this, started using solo this week and I already feel like my old iterm setup was from the stone age. Best bit is moving between machines. Big fan of mostly technical ❤️

The new Solo app is out! Run your agents, terminals, and devstack all in one app. I've increased the free tier, cleaned up the terminal, made trusting commands less annoying, fixed a few zsh issues, shift+enter issues, etc. Lots of good stuff!

I'm gonna try to be as clear as I can with this: The first thing you need to do on Monday when you get back to work is install an @openclaw setup for yourself. I am beyond amazed about how much this has changed the way I see my personal future and that of the world. 🧵Thread below 👇

Am I the only one who gets a dopamine hit from running composer install? It's just so satisfying, npm install take notes (probably a bit harder with the latter when you've got to install 64123 libraries to get a tooltip to render)

Vercel will be officially sponsoring tailwindcss.com. That's a given. We as a community and industry owe @adamwathan and team a lot. Tailwind is foundational web infrastructure at this point (it fixed CSS 😉). I've also reached out to Adam to explore how we can make this a longer-term commitment.

The technical challenges that come with building software that has to serve these types of traffic patterns are indeed very interesting...

@jeffrey_way What about a third option: all at once, right now. Thanks in advance Jeffrey!

This is one of my most anticipated upcoming courses. We're going to do quite a bit of post production work on these videos to make them easy to consume, memorable, and fun to watch. Would you prefer to see these released all at once (later in the year)... or one-by-one?
Matt Stauffer@mattstauffer

If you attended @LaraconUS, you already know this, but: I'm currently wrapping up the last three videos of my upcoming course, which is all about how I built the incredible development team at @TightenCo. The course will be free (!!), hosted on @laracasts, and out this autumn!

@benjamincrozat In case it's useful: we had a problem where the queue was "bursting"... every 60 seconds it would pick up a few jobs (1 per process), then get the sun lounger out and act like there weren't 1000s of jobs to be cracking on with. workaround: #issuecomment-3023335051" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/laravel/horizo…

We're seeing consistent connection timeouts via @Cloudflare, exclusively affecting users on Openreach-based ISPs (e.g. BT, TalkTalk, Plusnet, EE). No issues on other networks. Occurs on multiple domains, persisted for weeks now & is impacting a wide range of UK customers.

@DanielPriestley @garyseconomics He never claimed 1% will fix it, it's a starting position; ultimately to afford lower taxes for working people, encourage redistribution of assets and prevent inequality from compounding into extreme poverty and the squeezing out of middle/working class.

I asked Oxford educated economist @garyseconomics how he would fix wealth inequality. Gary says a 1% tax on people who have more than £10M net worth will fix our issues. In the UK there are about 30,000 people who have £10M or more. Let's say each of them has an average net worth of £25M and would have to pay £150K more in taxes per year than they already do (1% of the £15M above £10M). Let's also say that none of them leave the UK as a result of wealth taxes (which historically cause a wealth exodus). If all goes to his plan we would collect £4.5B in new taxes. The UK Government spends over £23Billion per week. Gary's plan would cover 36 hours of government spending ... while making the UK one of the most anti-wealth places on earth. It wouldn't change the £10B+ per month of additional debt we are running up Gary says he's a master at mathematics. He has a degree from LSE and Oxford. I have a no qualifications other than a drivers license and I can see this plan won't work.

@JackEllis @adamwathan I'm finding AI is slowing me down significantly through a combination of it asserting false information leading me down wrong R&D paths, and the psychological comfort blanket that leaves me thinking "I'll just use AI" causing me to switch off the problem solving part of my brain.

@adamwathan Boom. When people are going mental about how amazing AI is at writing code, I’m over here thinking “they aren’t writing anything of new or of significant complexity”

AI is probably great if you are writing the same code 400,000 other developers are writing every day but I don’t remember the last time it gave me a decent answer for even very moderately uncommon requests 🫠

What we need this week is a new Flux pricing idea. So here it is. What about @laravelphp buying Flux, making it first-party FOSS, and putting @calebporzio on the payroll with an inscrutable title and job description that just reads “be Caleb”.

If you tried Herd but ended up using your previous setup, why is that? We want to provide the best development environment for PHP and it buggs me that people try Herd but don't use it as their daily driver. What's holding you back?

Problem: Ideally, everyone is responsible for quality. But, if everyone is responsible, no one is responsible. Solution: Establish a code owner. This person is officially responsible for code quality. This could be the team lead, or a senior developer. What’s a code owner do to ensure quality? Pair program. Review code. Foster reuse. Coach others. Update dependencies. Remove needless complexity. Help make key technical decisions. Find and resolve security, accessibility, performance issues. The code owner is given flexibility in their daily schedule to perform these tasks. Again, ideally everyone does these things. But a code owner assures all this happens because *it's their job*. Does your team have a code owner? If so, how's it work? Do you use a different term? Who does it?
