I do Digital Humanities stuff at @dhGothenburg, Gothenburg University, and spend a lot of time modeling/mapping the Roman Empire and Early Medieval kingdoms

@ewg118 @paregorios Hi Ethan, you can use "Centre for Digital Humanities, University of Gothenburg" or if too long just the centre as above where I also have my position.

Found it! For anyone who cares, the good folks at the Digital Atlas of the Roman Empire have made their GeoJSON files available: github.com/klokantech/rom…
Matt Notarian@mnotarian
Anyone out there in #ClassicsTwitter-land know of downloadable vector files (shp, GeoJSON, etc.) for the Augustan regions of Italy? #GIS #DH

The Digital Atlas of the Roman Empire is moving to @dhGothenburg. New url is dh.gu.se/dare. The site will be fully back in a couple of days. The tiled map is already at dh.gu.se/tiles/imperium/{z}/{x}/{y}.png. Sorry for the inconvenience.
English

@ewg118 No, not exactly, it was terminated by IT-management. They obviously didn't care about the consequences for the LOD community. This will not happen @dhGothenburg.
English

@ewg118 @paregorios Hi Ethan, I'm in the middle of moving DARE permanently to Gothenburg University. The tiled map is available here, dh.gu.se/tiles/imperium/{z}/{x}/{y}.png, the DARE app will be available at dh.gu.se/dare/ in a couple of days. Now just the map!

@SarahEBond @kgeographer @WalterScheidel @eltonteb @RyanMHorne ... a new database has been launched that focuses on plague in late antiquity: climatechangeandhistory.princeton.edu/justinianic-pl…. I can't say anything specific about the mapping components of either project yet. Deciding when & where specific diseases are found in specific populations is next challenge.
English

@fjalolop000 You can simply change the path to dare.ht.lu.se/tiles/imperium/{z}/{x}/{y}.png and get the tiles from the source directly. @PelagiosNetwork is rebuilding their website and I don't know when the DARE tileset will be available again.
English

@JohanAhlfeldt Just a little bit question. pelagios.org/tilesets/imper… is not longer working. Is there another one? Thanks in advance

1. @PeriegesisH is at the moment concerned with the creation of a gazetteer for Athens. No such thing exists; how does one represent art, mythology and monuments in A portion of Athens? Verrall’s translation of the 1890s is a multidisciplinary study @eltonteb @JohanAhlfeldt

Pelagios is one of my fave #DigitalHumanities infrastructures. Is there a Swedish connection? Yes! I believe @JohanAhlfeldt helped create its Roman map layers, pelagios.org/maps/greco-rom…
The map tiles are licensed CC-BY. #OpenData #WhatDidTheRomansEverDoForUs?
