@JoeGoodberry My understanding of the tes that are good is they either need to be massive and have a huge rebounding vert or be elite at breaking tackles. Jack doesn’t seem to do either. What makes him a good prospect?

The bengals have not earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to evaluating character. It’s going to take time following jermaine burton. That said, without condoning what allegedly occurred and was then redacted, i don’t vibe with comparing colbie young to burton. The overall positive assessments of him as a teammate aside, he deserves his chance to make the most of this opportunity before folks immediately label him.

@Nate_Tice I don’t think they had a great o line and started the season in the 20s but then as other teams got hurt probably ended top 10. (Also had a fairly easy rusherslate/qbs with quick time to throw) If they have injuries this year or Kara’s/risner/brown age it could get ugly again.

also think that anyone cracking jokes about the Bengals OL or “still not protecting Burrow” very much wasn’t paying attention last year!

it’s pretty friendly numbers for a truly impactful defender! it made sense for the Bengals and where they’re at. They’ve gotta make a hard push over the next couple of seasons with where their offensive roster and the rest of the AFC in general are at.

@minakimes I am obviously biased. But you mentioned burrow like he took time but wasn't he on pace to have one the most productive rookie seasons of all time? Stats through their first 9 games

It’s a reasonable point, but one thing that caught my eye—on third/fourth and *long*, McCarthy was 76th in percent of throws that went for a first down or TD. Mendoza was 1st.

Honestly would love to see a creative DC actually develop a hybrid role for him at the NFL level. Think he can be a true hybrid, not a 'tweener'
