@DrewBMcIntyre Right now the website for All Souls Episcopal in Biltmore village doesn’t say anything, but I can’t imagine they are having services tomorrow. Hopefully their damage wasn’t too bad - they are probably historically listed which makes repairs tougher.

Western North Carolina needs prayers and will need lots of aid. I have family that lived in Louisiana for years and they were used to hurricanes as a regular part of life. Folks in our mountains have not dealt with something like this in my lifetime, as far as I know.

@doriannpalmer Uh...you didn't "nap". You went to bed! 😁. (There are nights when I don't get as much sleep as you got with your nap!) Next time, try napping for no more than an hour and no later than 4pm. Soon, you, like Winston Churchill and me, will be extolling the value of a good nap!!

To my friends who nap: how? I accidentally fell asleep at 7:30, I woke up around midnight and now can’t go back to sleep. The people are wondering HOW DO YOU NAP?

@herevrush @DylPar252 I had interpreted this differently; I thought their budgets were being reduced and as a result the total apportionment ask was reduced, but that didn't correlate to a reduction in apportionment to the local church. Basically, I thought it was a reflection of disaffiliation.

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for.

As someone who has been referred to as the Chandler of her friend group, I’m sad to hear about Matthew Perry’s death. I will say, while he’s known best for Friends, his guest role as Joe Quincy on The West Wing is a favorite of mine. A sad loss indeed.

@EastOhioDCM And, how can we more actively support efforts to address adult literacy! It's hard to fathom how anyone who is functionally illiterate can survive, nevermind thrive, in today's world!

Nearly 20% of adults cannot read. In most mainline worship services if one cannot read one cannot participate as Psalter, hymns, calls to worship, congregational prayer ALL assume one can read. How can we make worship more inclusive for those who can't read?

@DrewBMcIntyre Even if the founders were predominantly Xians, I don't see the U.S. Constitution as being Biblically-based, as Flynn asserts.

The Constitution is in many ways an amazing document, but most of the Founders who shaped it and the early republic were Deists of some form, not Christians. For too long too many have conflated a) a nation in which the majority were Christians with b) a Christian nation.
