This is the single most important chart. If AI were driving prices, you'd see a cluster top-right. You don't. States with huge load growth (VA, TX, NV, ND, IA) sit at ~0c change in 5y. States with massive price hikes (CA, NY, MA, CT) have basically NO load growth.

I looked into this and what happened is there was a police chase after a shooting. The suspect ran into the woods but they didn’t catch him for hours, finally finding him in the next town. The officer left the motorcycle, with the AR and went with another officer

I bought my home 14 years ago today for $365K. My property taxes are now $15,420 per year.
Based on the purchase price, my property tax rate is now 4.22%! Absolutely unconscionable.
We've done no major upgrades, other than a fence to protect our kids, new siding, and windows. It's frightening to think of how much our property taxes would go up if we did any major upgrades.
We even found an assessor's error overstating our house's square footage by 10%.
How is it that my property taxes have gone up over 50%?
Democrats have been in control of the state legislature every year I've lived in Buffalo Grove. Democrats now control all of the local taxing bodies.

I got my property tax bill yesterday. My effective property tax rate is now 2.99%, nearly 4X the national median of .79%. We are struggling. Pritzker has done nothing and his main legislative proposal this year is to force the poor and middle class to pay the property taxes of ultra-rich mega developers like the Bears. My sales taxes go up on July 1st to pay for Pritzker’s bailout of CTA. My gas taxes will go up July 1st, to pay for something else than our crumbling roads. Thanks for nothing, Governor. Lake County is trying to put a 1% sales tax hike for schools on the ballot. For the 8th consecutive year, Gov. Pritzker is resorting to tax hikes to balance the budget. If this election becomes a referendum on Pritzker’s tax record, Bailey wins.

The average McDonalds restaurant takes in ~$4million/yr in revenue.
They spend ~$2 million in non payroll operating expenses.
Raising the minimum wage to $25/hr would give each of the ~50 full time employees a pay rate of $51,000/yr. That would increase their payroll costs to $2.5 million per year
Each McDonalds would operate at a net loss, unless they massively cut payroll costs through automation. That means job losses.

I co-introduced historic legislation to increase the minimum wage to $25. As someone who taught economics at Stanford, here is why it makes sense. The real minimum wage was $14 in 1968. Today it is half, but productivity has increased 2.5x. Instead of extractive capitalism, we need a free enterprise system that pays workers what they are worth.
