I completely get your point, but I'm more on Viktor's side. Like him, I've gone through things like losing a developer account and having apps removed. When you go through that trauma, you start to see things differently. Keeping your account and app alive matters more than a 10% conversion boost. Apple and Google don't care about your intentions. It's incredibly frustrating to lose everything you built over a rule that doesn't even feel like fraud from where we stand. I'm personally paranoid about it, I even commented asking for clarification because I can't afford any more risk. These companies don't bend, and I genuinely feel like a hostage to them.

there are good people and there are rule followers big difference viktor if you called out someone for doing something *fundamentally* bad like frauding customers no one would be upset with you but you called out someone who was doing something *arbitrarily* bad something that none of us in our hearts feel is actually bad. imagine you had a brother and your parents had two rules: don’t kick puppies and don’t touch your ears you guys *should* obey all the rules, because your parents take care of you same with apple. we should be grateful for the platform and comply with all guidelines. that said: if you call out your brother for kicking puppies, you’re a good person if you call out your brother for touching his ears, you’re just a rule follower you seem like a rule follower, good person too but PSA: being a rule follower does not MAKE you a good person cool of you to apologize and offer help tho! and if we can get more clarity, maybe a new guideline specifically about this, that would be a great outcome and i might even thank you 😂

Wanted to walk through what happened today. I posted that a Superwall feature at $199/mo falls under Guideline 5.6. Developer Code of Conduct. Manipulation (a follower pointed this out in the comments). Yesterday I watched Adam Lyttle video where he shared advice from Will. I read Will’s article, it’s public. I attached a screenshot from it as an example. Today Will got a letter from Apple confirming that the Superwall feature at $199/mo may cause problems. I don’t know if he got it during an app update or not, but if you’re using this feature, it may cause problems. I want to publicly apologize. @athcanft if you need help navigating this, I’m here. I had zero bad intent. And now we all know Apple employees read my posts. Didn’t know that either.

@seraleev 5. All my prices are internationalized by country using a tier system. I used a script to automatically create them in the App Store.

If you optimize prices for MENA, they buy subscriptions too. Have you done purchasing power parity pricing? Summary: - Onboarding that shows how the app solves the problem - Paywall after onboarding with a free trial offer - Cheapest plan highlighted by default on the post-paywall screen - Prices optimized for purchasing power parity

@seraleev 3. My conversion was terrible. Most countries are MENA.

@seraleev 2. The new onboarding process and paywall are under review; I'll have more details soon, but it's currently unfeasible, haha.

@seraleev My old onboarding process: see for yourself + weekly mini paywall + full paywall. Responsible for all my numbers up to this point.

My bad, it was $20 from subscriptions and $13 from ads. I had 10k users, 100% organic, didn't expect that, but most were from low-income countries, MENA audience, which is why subscription conversion was so low. Hoping to grow and reach new markets with the update currently in review.

@JohnWinslowDev Wow, to make that kind of money from ads you need serious traffic. Worth digging deeper into your app and figuring out what users actually value most. That could be the foundation for subscription monetization via a soft paywall.

This is my app today. Tons of engagement, all organic. Revenue? Basically zero. Just shipped an update with everything I picked up from @seraleev and @adamlyttleapps Coming back in a few weeks with results. Fingers crossed

apple isnt the only one being unfair. google play just permanently removed my app for "deceptive behavior". the crime? a screen that said "stabilize your FPS". stable ping = stable FPS in-game, but google decided a VPN cant possibly improve FPS. tried to explain, got nowhere. made the mistake of appealing twice. second rejection had no appeal button and they straight up told me to "republish as a new app". lost 10k users and 4.8 stars across multiple countries. gone forever #buildinpublic

@JohnWinslowDev @seraleev @adamlyttleapps Tons of engagement, near-zero revenue = a conversion problem, not a product problem. I turn that kind of traction into booked calls and paying customers through targeted outbound. DM me happy to take a look at what's blocking the gap.

@adamlyttleapps creative strategy is solid. but the show-discount-after-decline part is against apple rules now afaik, how are you handling that?

@seraleev @adamlyttleapps And here's part of why revenue is so low. My app is built for people with bad internet, mostly emerging markets like India, Brazil, Philippines. They use the hell out of it, but converting to paid is rough
