@DaveMilbo People need their heroes. For some it's the bastard soldier who butchers the innocent and unarmed. For others it's the PM with a decent taste in music but no backbone.

Shut the fuck up. He IS complicit, and can't even name it a genocide even though we have all seen the bodies. I do expect him to disentangle us from this atrocity, like any decent man who isn't a total sellout would.

Joined “All Albo’s fault” club? @DaveMilbo regardless of what! When! Where! Against Whom? Reasons? Expecting PM heal recent atrocities here or globally?MORE appear DAILYYour points legitimate yes! But good grief “the blame game?”Don’t adjust your mind to faults in reality!

@animaljusticeAU A cynical use of wombats. Next thing will be Pauline Hanson trying to catch and cradle an adorable fluff ball, and wombats don't deserve that at all.

@KylePollard The article is wrenching, but it makes it clear that Ian Walker loved his life, and that Karen loves her brother with a strength which amounts to a refusal to let Ian die. Thank you.

Five years of work went into this story. It's long, but it's worth every word. I've never edited and produced a story that has had a more profound impact on me. Absolutely gut-wrenching, the entire thing. abc.net.au/news/2026-05-1…

Deano, I live in moderate Lib lectorate of Warringah. They've elected Zali Steggall in THREE landslides so far, with a 4th to come, no doubt. The mob likes her. She represents their values, their politics, much more than T. Abbott ever did. But you think she's ALP in disguise?

@IRanalyst There was a recent (2024?) study of antisemitism at Melbourne University, where the mere presence of a pro-Palestinian information table constituted an antisemitic 'event'. I suspect the same 'methodology' is at work here.

And there you have it. The Frydenberg faction of the lobby is caught out trying to deny the connection between Israel's violence in Gaza and spikes in antisemitism. Their attempt to whitewash Israel and claim that rising antisemitism in Australia is a disconnected endogenous phenomenon collapses on top of its own flawed methodology.
stranger@strangerous10

Commissioner Bell challenges Frydenberg-led Dor Foundation CEO Tahli Blicblau on credibility of their research questioning if they ignore fact that spikes in antisemitism coincide with Israel’s wars, calls out Dor’s surveys that use “Zionism” as “proxy for being a Jew”💥 #auspol

@thobbesian @hamhammer27 You're right about repeat offenders, a fact which needs to be dealt with in isolation. The increase in carjacking and home invasion has made people alarmed, especially with those crimes moving into more affluent suburbs. The question is, how much public panic is reasonable?

@Johnny_B_Fine @hamhammer27 Fair. The long historical decline in crime seems to have stalled and a relatively small cohort of repeat offenders is generating a disproportionate amount of disorder. Also, offences with high psychological impact have risen enough to alter public perception.

@hamhammer27 I agree that John Silvester doesn't offer too much in the way of insight or analysis. On the other hand, there has been a serious spike in various crimes over the past 2 years, including violence offences, and the benefit of denying it (other than politics) is unclear to me.

@thobbesian @hamhammer27 I'm not one to follow the 3AW perspective, but crimes against the person have jumped significantly in Victoria over the last 2-3 years. The Crime Statistics Agency tells the story.

Ridiculous decision. Every World Cup brings the nation together, hundreds of thousands of Aussies standing shoulder to shoulder, around the country, often through the night, even in the cold and rain to share in their passion for the @TheMatildas or @Socceroos Kids, families, all cultures, faiths. It’s an important time for Aussies to feel together, watch the world’s largest sporting event, share in the national spirit. The vision of fans in different cities all sharing in the experience has become a hallmark of both female and male World Cups, connecting the country through ⚽️ All stakeholders should be working to overturn this absurd decision. Whether @FootballAUS @aleaguemen, the PFA as whole of game, along with members of @VicParliament, @cityofmelbourne And @JacintaAllanMP should intervene.
Herald Sun Sport@heraldsunsport

Federation Square will not show any Socceroos matches on the big screen during next month’s World Cup, citing previous issues with unruly supporters in a decision that has left fans livid. DETAILS 👉 bit.ly/4n7avRa

@eatatjoe2 I'm pretty left, but the uproar about a politician talking about the people taking baseball bats to a government (not an individual) is lost on me. Focus on something more substantial, like the poor level of funding for Victorian state schools.

@TonyShaw22 I agree with the sentiment of others, that there's something sickening about a Collingwood premiership captain dogging on unions. The fact that an ignorant runt who isn't aware that there have been recent public service cuts adds some insult.

While we're on the subject of 'culture', Ayers Rock's most senior custodian, Paddy Uluru (the last name may give you the hint) said he didn't care whether people climbed or not because it was of 'no cultural significance'. But now the activists disrespect the actual culture and supersede it with their own because they know better than a man born before all the fake cultural stuff was invented. Also, note the pics of the Anangu men on top of the rock 80 years ago. Not sacred then; not sacred now. It's all about exerting control - oh, and money. dailymail.com/news/article-7… .

@Johnny_B_Fine @markgkenny You did, of course you did. If you were honest you would have said they booed the 'welcome to country'. But that's not what you said. You are obviously trying to alleviate your position through implications. Everyone can read what you said. This is dumb.

@thethronewithin @markgkenny I never suggested that they targeted the entire service. I actually pointed out that they made pathetic noises in the dark and then ran off, making it clear that their exit was premature. Try comprehension. In Australia, we just call 'The Throne Within' a dunny.

@Johnny_B_Fine @markgkenny Well, it's rather self-evident, that they jeered at a specific segment of the service (Welcome to Country). Suffice to say, they were not doing that the whole time. Your framing is conflation: that they targeted the entire dawn service, which is just blatantly inaccurate.
