UETCL, UEDCL promise fewer outages after $83m upgrade The project is financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency through a concessional loan of 13 billion Japanese yen. The companies say the stronger network will also support large economic projects, including industrial expansion and the planned Buloba Pump Station under Uganda’s oil and gas development programme. 🚨 ANOTHER ORLANDO TIMELINE COLLAPSE 🚨 When a witness’s own page contradicts itself, he has begun answering the question of his reliability before anyone asks him a thing. Page 7 does the work for us, Ugandans. 👇 Andrew Wilson Orlando told Uganda Police he travelled from Athens to Nairobi–Kisumu “around end of July 2024” and waited in a hotel for the programme. Same page of his statement: Trainees arrived and booked into Ukweli Centre on 24 July 2024. You can’t wait for a programme that has already started. Who exactly was he waiting for? Did he indeed make such a trip on July 24, 2024, to “Nairobi–Kisumu”? — Kiiza Eron Aluta continua

And as noted by @SCRtweets it was Otunnu who, while Uganda's reprentative on the Security Council, came up with the idea of straw polls in Dec. 1981, to break deadlock between Waldheim's stalled bid for a 3rd term & candidacy of Tanzania's Salim Salim. securitycouncilreport.org/atf/cf/%7B65BF…

@gabrieloguda In the long history of the UN, Olara Otunnu also remains the youngest ever permanent representative to serve on the Security Council, taking up that seat at the age of 31.

In Masaka City, newspaper vendor Francis Mukalazi says the closure has reduced sales, with several customers refusing to replace Daily Monitor with another newspaper. He says many clients who previously subscribed to both Daily Monitor and Bukedde have suspended their orders, including for the Luganda newspaper, even though it was not affected by the closure.

In Uganda, everything seems upside down. The man you see in handcuffs is a builder who raised concerns that some brands of cement were underweight. He claimed that bags labeled as 50 kg were actually weighing around 40.7 kg. Instead of investigating his complaint, different cement companies reported him to the police. When officers went to verify his claims, they weighed the cement and reportedly found that the bags were indeed lighter than the stated weight. Yet, he is the one who ended up in handcuffs. What a country.

You praised NMG journalists, enjoyed their stories, and even called them brave yet as they quietly struggle, do you ever check on them or offer any support? This is directed at musicians who constantly beg for coverage, politicians, pastors, and self-styled celebrities. #SupportGoodJournalism
