Amazing how many @Cloudflare products start with a vendor we’d happily used deciding to try and hold us hostage. And our team then saying: “Ok, guess we need to build that ourselves now.” DDoS, DNS, Registrar, CAPTCHA, Zero Trust… all the result of this. Any guesses what’s next?

@danielcroe @OnestreamFibre Wow. I have been looking at switching ISPs. Glad I saw this before I ever considered Onestream. No way I'll be going any way near them now.

@t3dotgg First, explain why, despite not allowing people to cross roads without a crosswalk, there aren't a lot of side- and crosswalks everywhere

@ryanels No, the difference would be 0 because. The difference between C and ++C would be 1 because the increment happens immediately. I don't code in either of those languages so here's a better explanation: stackoverflow.com/questions/2143…

@findiglay @levelsio 26 is standard summer but with the cold and wet we've been having a sudden wave of heat and the humidity that comes with it, 26 in the shade with no time to acclimate, probably followed by our twenty-third winter season of the year probably isn't going to be as fun as it sounds.

For decades Europeans were against installing air conditioning (AC) and didn't want to them due to environmental concerns AC manufacturers were wrestling with this for ages: a massive untapped market of 750 million people who were all against AC That's why you'd see ACs everywhere but Europe A few years ago they struck marketing genius: What if they'd rebrand airconditioning as not bad for the environment, but good for the environment? How do we market ACs as 🍃 eco-friendly? AC manufacturers renamed AC to "heat pumps" and added heaters to them for the cold European climates Electric heating would indeed be more efficient than the traditional forms of heating in Europe like gas boilers and fireplaces And they started lobbying governments and municipalities about the environmental benefits of them to fight climate change It worked and now suddenly Europeans are installing AC units en masse, but don't ever call it AC in Europe, that's a bad word: It's a "heat pump"

@levelsio Me on the way to UK: Brit: It’s going to be unbearable this summer hitting 26 maybe even 30! Me: Just turn on the AC Brit: We don’t have AC Me: why? Brit: it doesn’t get that hot here Me: we have the technology! I thought this was the developed part of the world 🫠

@levelsio bruh we aren't suddenly getting aircon units because "fuck the environment". We already fucked the environment. Now June is 3 weeks of winter coat and umbrella, 1 week of unbearable heat wave and sleep deprivation, WFH at a space heater PC with no escape.

@emil_priver @sveltejs I like Svelte but I feel like "old" Svelte was super simple at the cost of some "magic" syntax, whereas "new" Svelte doesn't seem as simple as modern VueJS. Especially if you bring in Nuxt vs Sveltekit. They are comparable and both great but Nuxt 3 seems more complete to me.

We're testing @sveltejs for building an internal dashboard for our data and customer-success teams and so far it's been quite nice. It's way simpler to build something then react or vue. It feels like Svelte have taken the frontend-to-server approach by allowing us to add JS o CSS when we need(as in the picture) while React takes the server-to-frontend by forcing us to write JSX to create a simple app. The question tho is how good does svelte scale when it comes to big projects?

@t3dotgg I kind of agree though. It might not be @github 's intended purpose but there's no denying a lot of us use it for distributing files, scripts & programs. It wouldn't hurt to add a big button to "download latest build" for tech noobs like @linusgsebastian

@ThePrimeagen By that logic battle tanks would be riding on wooden wagon wheels. More accurate would be: "Don't build a monorail to go where a set of Michelin CrossClimate 2s can easily get you". Rolls off the tongue.
