This road crew had a hose bust on their truck which resulted in asphalt sealant being sprayed on homeowners cars, houses and sidewalks. You can see them frantically trying to clean it off with water but it doesn’t look like it is doing much to help. I would have cleaned the newer car off first. 😂 You can see those guys were stressed! 💯 Could you imagine coming home to this? Who pays for those cars and houses? The company hired by the city or the city?

So, Spirit air, gone. Delta, canceling hundreds of flights because of no crews. Gas is the highest it's ever been and confirmed to only get worse. All infrastructure bills have been paused or gutted, and about 45% of Americans have no access to public transportation at all. Really sounds like they are trying to keep us here against our will. 15 minute cities incoming.

Carvana makes four times as much because the car is just the start of what they sell you. About 85 out of every 100 Carvana buyers finance the car through Carvana. At CarMax, their biggest competitor, the same number is closer to 40. When you click "finance" on Carvana's website, they write the loan at one interest rate, then sell that loan to a bank or pension fund within days. They keep the gap between what you pay and what the bank pays them. That gap, multiplied across hundreds of thousands of buyers, is how they print money. Then come the add-ons. An extended warranty. Coverage that pays off your loan if the car gets totaled. An insurance referral to Root, a digital car insurance company Carvana owns a piece of. Each one stacks on top of the same checkout. The car is the bait. The loan is the meal. Everything else is dessert. This is why selling them your car at a price that felt too generous still works for them. The money they make on that trade-in shows up later, after the next buyer signs. They clean it up, sell it to someone else, and that someone else signs another Carvana loan. This is also why they aren't going anywhere. In May 2022 they bought ADESA, a used car auction company, for $2.2 billion. ADESA came with 56 auction yards across the US. Now Carvana owns the auction yard, the body shop that fixes the car up, the trucks that deliver it, and the lender that funds the next buyer. Every step of that car's journey happens inside something Carvana owns. Three years ago none of this looked like it would survive. Carvana's stock hit $3.55 in December 2022. They had over $5.7 billion in debt. The market thought they were going bankrupt. Then Apollo, a giant private equity firm, led a deal with their lenders that cut $1.2 billion of debt and pushed the deadlines out to 2028. Last quarter they sold 187,000 cars and made $405 million in profit in 90 days. They joined the S&P 500 in December. Their market cap sits near $84 billion. Bigger than Ford. The whole business looks confusing if you think of Carvana as a car company. The math gets simple once you see them as a lender that happens to deliver cars.

Spirit Airlines announced the immediate suspension of all operations on Saturday, May 2, canceling every scheduled flight and shutting down customer service entirely after negotiations between the airline, its bondholders and federal officials collapsed. Simultaneously, Delta Air Lines — once considered the gold standard of American aviation reliability — has been canceling hundreds of flights over the past two days while its rivals operate without disruption. The juxtaposition is striking. Delta's cancellation rate today sits at approximately 6%, putting it nearly on par with Spirit ... a carrier that no longer exists. American Airlines, United and Southwest are each canceling effectively zero flights. Why Are There So Many Delta Cancellations? The cause of Delta's meltdown is, by all accounts, unclear. Weather conditions are largely good across the country. There are no reported technology issues. Aviation watchdog JonNYC, who has been tracking the situation closely, has confirmed that reports of pilots calling out sick en masse do not check out, ruling out what would have been the most obvious explanation. What does appear to be happening is an internal crew scheduling breakdown. Sources suggest a delayed snowball effect from weather earlier in the week may have disrupted pilot sequences, forcing scheduling teams to rebuild trips from scratch. The problem is being compounded by significant turnover in Delta's scheduling department, with a number of new and inexperienced staff now handling what's known in the industry as irregular operations recovery.

JUST IN: Baltimore bakery truck struck by a United Airlines plane coming in for a landing at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. According to local reports, the plane was a United Airlines Boeing 767-400. Senior vice president of Transportation & Logistics at H&S Bakery, Chuck Paterakis, says the driver was headed from Baltimore to New Jersey when he was hit. The driver suffered minor injuries, according to Fox Baltimore. "Our maintenance team is evaluating damage to the aircraft and we will investigate how this occurred," a United spokesperson said.
