Bittersweet - last time operating together with this badass surgeon and lifelong friend. Had the pleasure of watching him knock out a robotic radical nephrectomy in 49 minutes! Made memories and learned tons from him this year. Lots to live up to when the torch is passed.

HoLEP seems to be the gold standard for BPH. But still faces limited adoption due to learning curve and financials. That SUCKS. Clear example how our current healthcare model disincentivizes quality patient care.

@Baine_H As someone from the last cohort of in-person (2019), I completely agree. Yes, it is a whirlwind, but I came out with a gestalt about each program, often heavily influenced by informal interactions with residents and faculty. This simply cannot be reproduced virtually.

Just ran into in-person resident interviews happening for another specialty. to be honest it’s really a shame that urology isn’t back in person. I feel like zoom limits your feel for one of the biggest life choices to be made for aspiring docs.. I conceptually understand the equity and cost savings theories behind digital but non monetary costs are priceless to some. as someone now on the other side of interview I think we need to take the limiter off and extend choice to programs and applicants alike. Props to family medicine for leading the way back to in person, it was great to see y’all @bswhealth and I hope to see @UroResidency @Uro_Res @UroAcademic applicants roaming our halls again soon.

Sounds like something @jfunkmd would say about getting your own prostate volume calculation before considering HoLEP.
