NEW: Footage released of a Chicago officer shooting his female police partner, who had allegedly broken off their romantic relationship. Prosecutors say Baker "accidentally discharged" his gun, while the female officer's family previously said the situation "does not pass the smell test," according to local news. Officer Carlos A. Baker and Officer Krystal Rivera are seen in the bodycam footage chasing a suspect. Suspect Jaylin Arnold had been observed walking with an "unusual bulge" under his jacket, which they believed may have been a drum magazine. The officers were seen chasing after Arnold, who ran into a building. As Baker headed up the stairs and as Arnold ran into an apartment, Baker was seen firing a single shot, which hit Rivera, who was following behind. Roughly 2 minutes after the shooting, Baker made his way down the stairs to Rivera's motionless body, according to investigators. Rivera family attorney, Antonio Romanucci, said the officers were in an "on again, off again" romantic relationship. Rivera reportedly ended the relationship after learning Baker was seeing another woman. She allegedly threatened to tell the other woman about their relationship.
