my best friend and i went to the WHCD, and we ended up leaving early because something felt off it started the second we got there. every event we’ve ever been to, especially at this level, there are layers of security. bags checked, IDs checked, actual process this time, nothing. we were just asked if we had tickets, said yes, and got waved through no bag check. no real screening. no line. just thousands of people packed together, being pushed through the doors as fast as possible it felt wrong immediately. like, viscerally wrong. my bestfriend literally turns to me and says “i think something is going to happen” and then it did this cannot happen. not here, not at something like this praying for everyone, but there needs to be accountability because this should never happen again

I hear stories like this every year. Every location and population is different. But it’s worth stating, once I stopped buying bees and started wintering them in smaller, unventilated, top insulated hives I stopped losing colonies.

Been working with honey bees for 15 plus years it's been a struggle but nothing like the last two years! Now all my honey bees are dead and I'm sure it has nothing to do with what's going on up above geez!

@AniseNot Not cheap, you probably want set your posts into the ground if you’re stretching shade between them.

@Inv3ntive15 I love you can’t tell if it’s apartments or a Fairfield Inn. That’s the look we should all be hoping for.

When you have a quaint downtown area, with old one and two story brick shops, full of fun businesses doing well, and you just absolutely want to destroy the vibe.

@MylesDaley Let her know sometimes they got some with a little puss in it. 😂 Those milkmaids weren’t beautiful by accident!

@JonasGwin The child birth is the biggest factor for sure. My brother wouldn't be here and neither would 2 of my 5. That's a large chunk. This original argument stemmed from me stating that people drank raw milk for millenia before, and she stated that "everybody died from it" oy vey

Got in an argument with a friend awhile back and I was trying to explain that the reason for the low life expectancy back in the day was not because everybody died of old age at 31. I think about that every once in a while and it irks me that she's still wrong.

Replies are an interesting case study. All you can draw from this interaction is these two probably shouldn’t marry; seem to have incompatible expectations of each other. Then again, marriage is a lot of learning to deal with the fact that your spouse is incapable of changing.

Owning a home is a freaking money pit. If someone tells you otherwise, they’re straight-up lying to you. I’ve lost track of how much I’ve invested in my home: AC system Air filters New toilets New fence Water filtration Tree trimming Fertilizer, mulch Furniture Garage floor

Due to modern affordances it’s easy for people to underestimate the selective pressure during child birth and early youth, then vastly underestimate how well adapted humans are to survival. We can eat just about anything and solve virtually any environmental challenge. A good number of people wouldn’t be here if we had not medicalized child birth. Myself and daughter included.

@JonasGwin Exactly. There was still a lot to kill you while you were young, both in conflict and sickness, but, barring that, you should be good to go.

@RealCalebKitson More realistically, you should be surplussing something so you can trade and build good will. Food is a tool.

It is unreasonable to expect your neighbor, who has diligently prepared for hard times, to share the food he has carefully planned for his family with yours. The idea that "we will all need each other" is true, but it stops at food. That is your responsibility. You may be able to get a little from your neighbor from time to time, but do not expect it.
