@MegaeraR @MshaynesPE I agree. Being blasted by ‘science’ for the whole session is too much for me. Defo need time to ‘chat’, some ‘doing’, a little ‘creativity’, a load of ‘relevance’ and also the ‘science’ behind whatever is being shared.

@VivRaper @NielsHoven Ability grouping feels intuitive, but decades of research shows it often widens gaps rather than supports learning. Mixed-ability classrooms can do this through flexible grouping, targeted feedback, and open-ended projects (as you suggest). It is a wicked problem though!

Some babies don’t crawl actually 🤭 So that little reading-crawling comparison falls flat on its face & works against your claim. It instead reminds us that we need to individualise learning processes & not make assumptions about where children’s development “should” go next 😉

Exactly. Saying "we shouldn't teach kids to sound out words because I don't sound out words" is like saying "we shouldn't let babies crawl because I don't need to crawl" It displays complete ignorance of the learning process and the journey from beginner to mastery

@zeph_bennett As some1 who was used to moving a lot & could be ‘normatively’ successful, I obviously enjoyed it - as I could do it! The emotional wellbeing spiral works both ways. Make it more personal, in smaller grps and remove the random‘test’ aspect & things may look & feel better.

@zeph_bennett My PhD is about developing CareFULL practices & ⬆️% of participants said this was 1 of a few activities that made them hate PE PA. It’s a normative, humiliating activity. Often carried out at inappropriate growth/maturation stages. Better ways to get ppl moving over a set time.
