Honest question from someone who has been a @SouthwestAir A-List Preferred flyer and loyalist for more than a decade: what’s the case for flying SWA now? With the abolition of open seating and “Bag Fly Free” SWA is now just another legacy carrier—albeit one without true first class, lounges, or meaningful international routes. The “new” Southwest offers all the downside but none of the upside of Delta/United/American. What’s SWA’s best argument why I shouldn’t park my butt at AA’s Admirals Club at DFW while waiting for my assigned seat from here on out? Persuade me.

@CFBNerds A professional is someone engaged in a specific activity as their main paid occupation. Under current NIL rules, it's hard to argue that these kids are not professionals by definition. That’s the only way these rulings make any sense me to.

The insanity continues - after Baylor signed a G-League player, now the courts are forcing the NCAA to let Bediako return to Alabama 2 years later.
This is an escalation because while Nnaji at Baylor never signed a two-way NBA contract (only developmental contracts), and was thus viewed as a special case by the NCAA, Bediako DID sign a two-way NBA deal.
He's been in the G-League after starting on their 2023 Sweet Sixteen team along with (younger) Brandon Miller and going undrafted.
A subtle point is that NIL financial offers have to be a huge reason why this makes any sense for Bediako.

Yet another sign college football has become more like the 1990s - with the zone read and RPO figured out, QB runs are much harder:
All-time greats Tommy Frazier and Michael Vick never had a 1,000 yard rushing season.
Even in the mid-2000s, Vince Young's best rushing season was just 1,079 yards. Tebow never ran for 1,000.
But in the 5 non-Covid years from 2016-2021, there were 11 QBs in P4 who rushed for at least 1,000 yards (2/year).
That's changed. The last four years, there's been just 2 total (Daniels and Castellanos in 2023).
With defenses having more hybrid players and schemes, gimmicky spread offenses are out. While 2025 seems to confirm that pro-style attacks with great OLs and a senior QB running the show are how you win.

Only Georgia could fail to win a single playoff game over the past three seasons, do next to nothing in the transfer portal, and still somehow get ranked in the top three in a preseason poll.
Make it make sense.

@CFBNerds We knew this would happen when kids started making money. The big question forward: how will programs justify these deals to 4 and 5-star prospects who need a developmental year? A "million dollar" player developing on the bench is no help to your immediate W/L record.

The side of the portal nobody talks about is teams pushing kids into the portal because they're replacing them with a shiny new thing.
This is cynical donor assisted attrition and completely removes college athletics from it's stated purpose for existence.

DJ Lagway has continued to have dialogue with other schools, including Ole Miss, sources tell @mzenitz and I.
He did, however, verbally commit to Baylor and informed multiple people he committed to the Bears. He also began recruiting for them.
Process is worth monitoring.
