I hate the Russian incursion into Ukraine as equally as I do the American incursion into Iraq. And the Israeli oppression of the Palestinians. And the Hamas attack on Israel. I’m a unicorn. Please don’t drone attack my family.

Coming home from a visit to Holy Cross Monastery with a group from my parish. Was a blessed trip. Long drive, worth it.

This is a hugely positive development, a real step forward in addressing the priest shortage. Both @SaintTikhons (Abp Michael and Fr John Parker) and @midwestdiocese (Abp Daniel and Fr Herman Kincaid) should be commended for their vision. The short version: a cohort of longtime Orthodox men, handpicked by Abp Daniel, will go through a hybrid seminary program to prepare them for the priesthood. None of these are men who otherwise would have gone to seminary, and they represent exactly the kind of "market inefficiency" I've been going on and on about for several years now. I hope this program is wildly successful and is imitated by other dioceses across the country.

Christ is Risen! Saint Tikhon’s Seminary and the Diocese of the Midwest of the Orthodox Church in America are humbled and excited to announce a bold and creative partnership intended to form and train a select cohort of qualified men for the Priesthood in the Chicagoland area over the next three years. The choir director for our parish said that jurisdictionalism in Orthodoxy in America is preventing real Catholicity from being expressed by the Church in America.

Fr. John is a brilliant scholar and a tenderhearted man. So is Fr. Herman. Please don't mock or scorn them. That will only make things worse. Rather, when you use their prayer book, remember them and pray they come home soon. This is a sad day. Lord have mercy.

@KalebAtlanta At least five new visitors, possibly more that I didn’t talk to. All of them said they were coming back next week. We have only one catechumen left after Pascha, off to a great start.

@MrsMagdaBeard I was the first person in my family to graduate 4 yr college. Wouldn’t have made it without scholarships. My parents would have been considered lower middle class. Both worked. God, I miss those times.

Most people in the 80s/90s were still dual income households. They didn't have cable, internet, cell phones, doordash, Netflix etc. Most of us didn't have our college paid for, if we went it was theough the GI bill or loans. The homes weren't luxury, 3000 sq ft with a pool. We didn't take yearly vacations or go out to eat often. They drove little sedans and economy cars. Middle class/lower middle class people were still just that. Paying for college was still something most families couldnt afford. You guys need to stop getting your ideas of the past from TV.

The eye-opening stress test I keep asking people: what would it take to give your children the upbringing your father gave you? e.g. suburb, stay-at-home mom, 3 kids, 4-bedroom house, college tuition, all on a father's single income. Common, unremarkable middle-class American life as recently as the early 2000s. How many "successful" people who did everything right could replicate that today on a single-income?

Ngl I’m struggling bad with the Faith atm Please pray for me The state of the Catholic Church in Germany is slowly killing my faith. Idk how I’m supposed to survive this. Also, I started to doubt the Magisterium on multiple issues, including some core teachings of Catholicism. I’m scared rn

The quotetweets are all you need to know about the type of “Christian men” we’re dealing with who scream at women because they cannot control their passions. I’ve been reliably informed the photo was not that bad. I will apologize for posting a photo at all but the content of the tweet was actually genuine and it was a good convo. I was super nervous to jump in and I ended up making friends with them (I’m usually very reserved and don’t talk to anyone at the gym). Just wanted to document it. God bless

@vmpops @MrsMagdaBeard We are trailer trash from way back. My wife and I bought a used trailer when we first got married. And have lived in two others in our 27 years together. You do what works at the time. And we were very grateful for those homes in the early years. And honestly, we’d do it again!

@MrsMagdaBeard Knew a couple who did this by design. Young, much on love, solid marriage. Lived VERY frugally on purpose and it paid off. But some say it doesn't appreciate in value like a small brick house.

This always seems like such a great way to save money/have temporary living while building sort of thing to me... the problem for me with trailers isn't the stigma, it's the absolutely toxic materials that are often used to make them. I would definitely not do this with children or if children were imminent if avoidable. That said, I have seen some very nice trailers!
OutspokenSamantha@Outspoken_Sam

Question: Do you judge people for living in a trailer? 😅 My husband and I are thinking about buying some land and putting a double wide on it. But I'm not gonna lie... the stigma of living in a trailer is definitely in the back of my mind. I don't tend to care what people think for the most part, but this is something that gets me.

@Joseph_the_Dad They said it should be fixed now. Try again before buyers remorse sets in. Since it’s the next morning, it’s probably too late. Ha ha.

Anyone want to help me test whether my new Artos shop is set up right? Tell you what - if you test it with, say, a $20 purchase, I'll send you this hand-made Tree of Gondor wallet. Thanks in advance! ;-) artosmarket.com/shop/warrior-m…

I have two children who are adults. One coming along. You never stop parenting. It’s a lifelong endeavor. It changes form, of course, but be prepared - love never fails.
