I don’t think this is a terrible running route. I think this is also a high in play by the #astros runner. The #whitesox shortstop has to be a bit more aware of the runner to me. What do you think?

U.S. House lawmakers have proposed bipartisan legislation that ‌would require electric vehicles to pay a $130 fee to pay for road repairs annually and $35 for some plug-in hybrid models. The House is working on a five-year highway reauthorization bill expected to ‌cost more than $500 billion ahead of the current law expiration on Sept 30, 2026. Most revenue for federally funded road repairs is collected through diesel and gasoline taxes, which EVs do not pay. I think $130 is fair since over time there will be fewer gas vehicles on the road generating tax revenue, They'll need to make up the difference somewhere so they can keep repairing roads, etc. Full bill text in thread below:

@AlexMascitti @marcorandazza Impossible. Basic scuba certification (called open water) is good for 60’. training is focused on safety and depth. To enter the water knowing the entrance is 150’ without mixed gas is hard to understand.

@marcorandazza As someone who has never scuba dived before help me understand the following: How easy is it to underestimate dive depth and the equipment required? Going from 120 -> 160 seems like a huge miscalculation

This was either group suicide or murder. I've been diving for 30 years. Rescue and deep dive certified. These divers were effectively dead the moment they went in the water. At 150 feet, with recreational gear and without special gas mix, you're already dead. I'm an absolute madman adrenaline junkie. My hard floor is 120 feet. There was no possible way they were coming back, whether they panicked or not. That dive plan was never going to end with any of them alive.

This is crap. I’m a ryobi guy. I’m an average homeowner. I’d rather have an amazing suite of tools that I use 6x a year than have spent all my money on dewalt drill that I’ll never push near its limits. I’m hanging picture frame for god sakes
Scotch@scotchscotchzz

I witnessed a man at Home Depot go down a dark path. This choice will lead to a broken home, a promiscuous wife, gay children, and unfinished projects while drinking seltzers. If you don’t take your tools seriously you don’t take your life seriously.

@ScubaTrades I used to run a shit ton for conditioning before soccer season and I never came close to achieving it, but I also never really ran more than like 5 miles at a time mixed in with sprints and stadium runs so maybe I just never went far enough.

🚨#BREAKING: Watch as a Frontier Airlines aircraft forced to make an emergency after a pedestrian on the runway was struck and sucked into one of the jet’s engines

📌#Denver | #Colorado Watch as horrifying footage from earlier this morning shows the moment Frontier Flight 4345, departing from Denver International Airport and bound for Los Angeles, was forced into an emergency evacuation after a man reportedly walked onto the active runway and was sucked into one of the aircraft’s engines during takeoff. The impact triggered a brief engine fire, which was quickly extinguished by airport firefighters. Officials later confirmed the individual had been walking on the runway prior to the incident, though the reason remains unknown and is now under investigation. No injuries were reported among the 231 passengers onboard the aircraft. Frontier Airlines and federal investigators are now reviewing how the person was able to gain access to an active runway at one of the largest airports in the United States, raising serious questions about perimeter and airfield security procedures.

@RyanGarciaESM I'm sick of people hating on @BauerOutage. He was vindicated of the charges and should be given his chance to return. Everyone who publicly hates on him seems to do it because it's the cool thing to do, but it's morally and objectively wrong.

The small silver lining of this guy's story is that he's stuck making a mockery of himself
Trevor Bauer (トレバー・バウアー)@BauerOutage

Hypothetical: You’re the owner of an MLB team. I offer to take $0 salary and sign a minor league contract and go to Low A. If the “he sucks now” crowd is right and I get lit up, you cut me, lose $0 and there’s no risk to the big league club. If the “clubhouse cancer” crowd is right, you see it immediately at Low A and cut me. You lose $0 and there’s no risk to the big league club. If there’s massive negative PR, which we already know there won’t be, you just cut me and move on. The story is dead in a couple days, you lose $0, and there’s no risk to the big league club. But, assuming none of those things happen, which they obviously wouldn’t, if you like what you see, you can promote me to AA and re evaluate me there. Then AAA. Then the big leagues. If I earn it, which you’d be 100% in control of deciding. If you don’t think I’m good enough, you lose $0 and there’s no risk to the big league club. You could take away my “antics”. You could take away my social media. You could ask anything of me. If I don’t comply, you cut me, lose $0, and there’s no risk to the big league club. What logical reason is there to not do this? At worst, you cut me and there’s no risk to the big league club. At best, you get a Cy Young winner for $0 who you know can still pitch and could help the big league team if and when you see fit.

It's against the law, Robert. We, as a state, have voted on this issue 11 times. We've overwhelmingly shot it down each time. Our constitution prohibits an income tax that is selectively applied. Whether you like the tax or not is immaterial. It's illegal
Robert Cruickshank@cruickshank

This crashout over WA adopting an income tax, which nearly every other state in the union has, is comical to watch. I get the arguments against CA’s “billionaire” wealth tax, that’s a fundamentally different policy approach than a simple income tax targeting the rich.

Overuse injuries, depression, anxiety. By 13, 70% quit sports. Families revolve around kids’ schedules. Higher late-teen suicide risk, eating disorders, fewer other activities, even skipping church, etc. The costs keep adding up. How are people like Chris so blind to the costs?
Chris Orzechowski@chrisorzy

Travel sports: - guaranteed family time every weekend - tour the entire country, see the sights - kids gain athletic skills and priceless memories - chance at scholarships/NIL money - kids stay out of trouble - make friends with people in town This is supposed to be “bad”?
