The project is active, just not a lot of progress between life and work. And I am also active just mostly lurking.
It is made in a pixelart workflow in Aseprite, but ut is high res. it is then smoothed with FXAA in engine.
My approach and idea behind the artstyle is to apply pixelart ideas, worklfows and constrainst to large res sprite canvases. I typically sketch out things in low res pixels to make it constrained and readable, then I upscale and smooth it out 🙂

@JstFredrik I have to ask! Not sure how active you are now. But I can never tell if this is pixel art, if so, how do you get that smoothness?
I just started dabbling in PixelArt myself and I am amazed at your work!
