The Bible is full of typology. I want to look at the parallels between Exodus 33:18-23 and Matthew 16:18-19. Hopefully I can explain how it points to the Catholic Church. Exodus 33:18-23 18 Moses said, “I pray thee, show me thy glory.” 19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord’; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face; for man shall not see me and live.” 21 And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand upon the rock; 22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; 23 then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.” In verse 20, God tells Moses he can not see his face. Flash forward to Matthew 16, and his apostles have clearly seen and been around the face of God. (Colossians 1:15) God throughout the Bible gradually reveals more about himself to us humans. At this point God has now revealed himself in the flesh. In verse 21 God tells Moses he is close to the rock, and that Moses will be placed on top of the rock in order to properly see all of God but his face. Now look at Matthew 16:18, Jesus renames Simon to Peter (Rock). When God changes someone’s name in the Bible it’s always a major event in the life of the individual and never just because. Jesus continues to say “On this Rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.” The “On this Rock” is the most important piece in this passage, one that stirs much controversy today. Some people will say the rock is only metaphorical for the faith that Peter had. But can you take a persons faith away from them and place it in someone else? Simon, now Peter (Rock), is the chief apostle among the 12 apostles. This can be seen among the church fathers dating back to the first century and also in the way he is described in the Bible. He always comes first among any other apostle when they’re all named together, he is also the one to give an authoritative declaration in Acts 15. Many times does Jesus single him out among all the others, Luke 22:32, John 21:15-19 Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves him, every time Peter declares his love for Jesus, Jesus then issues commands specific to Peter. Truly God is near the rock in these verses just as he was in Exodus 33:21. Now ultimately the conclusion I have come to and one I hope you can as well if you are outside the Catholic Church is this. Just as Moses could not properly see God in his glory, neither can we unless we are standing upon the Rock. The church that Peter lead. Just as Moses was the leader that God appointed to lead the Israelites and their faith, so too has Jesus issued that same authority to Peter. Stand on top of the Rock and see the Glory of our Lord.

@captive_dreamer Catholic. The biggest difference between the two is the Papacy but churches and church leaders all throughout the world in the first millennium adhered to what the Bishop of Rome instructed. If early churches followed the Bishop of Rome, we should too.

@noetic_healing I like how you say to people in the comments that they have no idea what they're talking about if they criticize the orthodox churches and yet you confidently and ignorantly criticize the Catholic Church.

Rome is the “Mother of Harlots” where every schismatic sect claiming to be Christian has come from. The Anglicans are one of the harlots. There is only One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church which the Latins left centuries ago. Which way western man

Migration in Europe created two kinds of women: ✅ Those who defend themselves from sexual assault are labeled racist and arrested by police. ✅ Those who are raped find their attackers are not jailed, so they choose euthanasia as a result.

Newly released video of Noelia. She's standing, moving, and smiling. She looks determined to overcome her pain. She looks optimistic. The entire Spanish healthcare regime seemingly decided to execute her the moment she voiced suicidal thoughts in therapy - instead of fighting for her life and future. Her death would have been 1000% avoidable with the right support network. It's one of the most horrifying incidents in modern European history.

@ryius @HeinrichVStahl @michaeljknowles Those are two different issues you are bringing up. Just because there have been issues within the Church does not mean that it is not the true Church. Secondly there have been Saints who have brought up issues in the Church and fixed them. ML made up his own religion.

There's no blame on you. I was half joking when I posted Martin Luther because I know Knowles is a Catholic. The reaction of pure vitriol and idolatry of the church, just cemented my position. I crossed a bridge before, but today, I burned it. If Catholics cannot admit there are real problems with the church, then it will NEVER be fixed until Christ returns.

@ryius @HeinrichVStahl @michaeljknowles You're wrong on everything you just criticized. Considering how you've talked to me im willing to bet that the priests weren't combative with you, they just wouldn't condone you doing anything contrary to what the Church and scripture allows. Also im divorced and am a Catholic.

Pope Francis, Europe, LGBT/George Floyd/Social Justice/environmentalism in the church, I couldn't pick my children's Godparents, priests were combative and not helpful, I started studying the bible on my own, priests touching little boys, priests conducting pagan rituals in South America, churches encouraging Islam, priests don't understand marriage, attitude toward mortal sin, my mom was a divorced woman,... I have a lot more. I don't know why I stayed as long as I did.

@PabloLim7 @sola_chad It's really insane to me people dont look at the literacy rates of most of human history plus the cost of writing materials. There's a reason not everyone had a Bible and it was mostly due to cost. Also due to the way the Bible is, its meant to be preached at Mass by priests.

. @sola_chad repeats one of the dumbest myths of modern post-Reformation Protestantism, that somehow the Church had the Bible "chained to the pulpits" to hide Scripture from the common people. Which is ironic, because he also has me blocked to hide behind any criticism of him.

@ryius @HeinrichVStahl @michaeljknowles Don't blame me for you leaving the church that Christ built. You insulted Catholic priests and I've refuted you but have been pretty fair and generous. I haven't been insulting you, at least not intentionally. I've tried to converse with you while you keep deflecting.

@ryius @HeinrichVStahl @michaeljknowles So you were a Catholic under the Latin Rite with a Bishop that follows the Pope, do I have this correct? Why on earth did you leave that for the LCMS?
