@blip_tm @NickADobos @mycoliza Do you think space x have just not thought this through well enough? I’m genuinely asking, I’m not smart enough to verify any of this.

@NickADobos @mycoliza the failure rate of a large cluster and a starlink satellite aren’t even in the same order of magnitude — datacenters experience multiple GPU failures a day plus, datacenters are far more expensive than satellites, and there are far fewer advantages of putting them in space

have any of the people advocating for space-based datacenters ever worked in a datacenter and seen how often hardware fails and needs to be replaced?

Starting Thursday, we'll be updating our revenue sharing incentives to better reward the content we want on X: We will be giving more weight to impressions from your home region—to encourage content that resonates with people in your country, in neighboring countries and people who speak your language. While we appreciate everyone's opinion on American politics, we hope this will disincentivize gaming the attention of US or Japanese accounts and instead, drive diverse conversations on the platform. We invite creators to start building an audience locally. X will be a much richer community when there's relevant posts for people in all parts of the world.

@christinelu @dnystedt You’d be surprised how people in comfortable positions like this feel unmoved until they see offers that they didn’t think were possible. Then they start innocently looking at schools and real estate online and start thinking what it would be like to work with Elon.

@dnystedt My cousin’s an engineer in Taiwan at TSMC. Those with 10+ years or experience usually are married with kids and he lives a comfy and stable life in Taiwan. Not sure uprooting and moving to Texas will be enticing regardless of the pay.

Tesla’s TeraFab has launched a talent war in Taiwan via job postings seeking senior chip experts (Process Integration Engineers) with over 10-years of experience, media report, adding its 2nm fab plan aims directly at TSMC. Chip engineers are already in short supply in Taiwan – like nearly everything chip related – and industry insiders worry the ‘Musk Halo Effect’ will draw local talent. More: Deep expertise in FinFET, GAA, BSPDN, and across all stages of chip building: FEOL, MOL and BEOL. $TSLA $TSM $UMC $ASX #semiconductors #semiconductor money.udn.com/money/story/56…

Terafab Sizing From my post, Elon commented, guessing at 100M sq ft: “100M sq ft is the right order of magnitude” That’s not a precise number— it’s a bounding statement. More like: “hundreds of millions, not tens of millions or billions.” In other words: 10M is clearly too small 1B is clearly too large So the answer lives somewhere in between, centered around ~100M This is classic first-principles sizing. Define the extremes, then converge on the middle. And right now, we’re still in that unknown phase of Terafab. What matters isn’t the number, it’s the direction If anything, the real goal is probably: < 100M sq ft Not because demand won’t justify more, but because efficiency will try to compress it. That compression comes from innovation. We’ve seen this playbook before Think about Cybercab manufacturing— the so-called unboxed process. That was a direct response to a simple observation: Traditional production lines waste space. So Tesla rethought the layout entirely— bringing major assemblies together in a far denser, more parallelized way. Less conveyance, less dead space. Result: dramatically higher factory density. Now apply that to Terafab Get ready for: Unboxed, round two — fab style. If Tesla can do to semiconductor manufacturing what it did to vehicle assembly, the constraint won’t be “how big can we build it?” It’ll be: how much can we compress into a given footprint. And that’s how you end up with something that should be 100M sq ft… but maybe doesn’t need to be.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

@pbeisel Yeah, 100M sq ft is the right order of magnitude

💰 U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says he is “jujitsuing the Iranians.” The decision to lift sanctions on the 140 million barrels of Iranian oil stored on tankers, he says, will prevent China from purchasing it at steep discounts, and will allow the U.S. to track the oil flow. Bessent claimed Iran will have “difficulty accessing” the nearly $17 billion in revenue generated from the oil sales because banking sanctions remain in place, suggesting the money could be delayed, discounted, or effectively trapped.

Christopher Hitchens: ”In 1786, when the United States was barely a country, it was having its sailors taken as slaves by the Barbary states, the states of the Ottoman Empire and North Africa. Tripoli, shores of Tripoli. Ships stopped, its crews carried off into slavery. We estimate 1.5 million European and American slaves taken between 1750 and 1815. Jefferson and Adams went to their ambassador in London and said, why do you do this to us? The United States has never had a quarrel with the Muslim world of any kind. We weren't in the crusades. We weren't at war with Spain. Why do you do this to our people and our ships? Why do you plunder and enslave our people? The ambassador said very plainly, Mr. Abdul Rahman said, because the Quran gives us permission to do so, because you are infidels, and that's our answer. Jefferson said, well, in that case, I will send a navy which will crush your state, which he did. Islamic fundamentalism is not created by American democracy. It's a lie to say so. It's a masochistic lie, and it excuses those who are the real criminals, and blames us for the attacks made upon us.”

@nikitabier @WazzCrypto @mweinbach It’s not important to verify if someone is real. What’s important is if their posts have value or not. Shouldn’t the verification be of whether a post has negative value or not? A human and a bot posting the same poor content should receive equal penalty.
