Gazprom just shut down deliveries of gas to Poland via the Jamal pipeline❗️ 55% of 🇵🇱 gas imprts (47% of total) r from 🇷🇺. ~10bcm per year. 🇵🇱 just finishing 2 new projects: > Baltic Pipe to 🇳🇴🇩🇰. Capacity from end-'22: 10bcm👊 > GIPL to 🇱🇹, 2.5bcm👊 Storage filled to 76%.
This is serious. Time to cut the Green New Deal nonsense and surge US domestic production of natural gas. Poland wisely invested in the import infrastructure to accept LNG by ship and we should reward them by sending it--but need to produce more so prices don't spike at home.
Gazprom's gas supply cutoff on Poland is likely a gambit to divide Europe on the acceptability of paying in rubles Russia hopes that some EU countries, likely led by Hungary, will cave on this issue
