This is why Democrats lose when they should win and until they accept this, they’ll keep losing: you cannot label those who disagree with you as sexist, racist, etc. (even if they are) calling them names won’t ever get them to agree with (and vote) for your side.

Every woman actually wants to be possessed. In this day and age, it’s either being owned by a husband or a boss. Women crave the feeling of being needed and depended upon. Our deepest longing is to give ourselves over, to fill and be contained by a worthy vessel. I, personally, rather give my time and energy to my husband and the children we’ve created together. I rather be known intimately, be labeled as the precious one. Give life to everything I touch within my husband’s domain, and have it be given back to me. This is what all women are driven by, whether they acknowledge it or not.

I love my husband so much, y all. He’s not on here so he won’t see this, but on the way home tonight on the train, a young lady was being harassed by this man, and he just got calmly got up, and stood between them. No bluster. No words exchanged. Just quietly stood there.

@mike_dillaha @hollowearthterf I divorced at 37. Never once felt reluctant to do it because of “fewer prospects.” Never once experienced a shortage of prospects once I decided to date again. I divorced because I married a man I met at 23, and I believed the BS that told me you had to be married by 30.

@hollowearthterf I’m not sure I agree, but my own experience isn’t working in my favor here. How much do you think a younger person’s prospects of future relationships promotes divorce? A couple married in their 30s may realize they have fewer prospects when they run into marital trouble, no?

@evie_ @hollowearthterf My parents were 35 and 36 when I was born. When I was 25, they were semi-retired, traveling a lot, and enjoying their best life. And I got the benefit of having parents who were wiser and more financially secure while I was growing up.

Being a Democrat right now is not easy when you keep hearing white politicans, strategists and pundits telling us what went wrong. Black voters and 61% of Latinas showed up yet no one seems to care what we think. This argument about “working class” centers white and latino men. I am sick of it.

@constans I learned this many years ago when I said something comparing my Aries K car unfavorably to a parking lot full of Cadillacs and Lincolns. My dad just looked at me and said, “It’s paid for.” Never before occurred to me that lots of those fancy cars weren’t.

It wasn’t until I moved to NYC and lived here for a few years that I realized the reason other people seemed to be living better than me was because they were just really really bad with money.

We grew up watching Star Trek and believing that’s where the future was heading. Seriously, I expected bumps along the way, but believed that’s where we were heading. Now I worry that was a fantasy, and Mad Max is going to be close to reality. 😢

I know I shouldn’t be surprised that racism, misogyny, and stupidity won, but I really hoped we could be better. I’m going to get off social media now and maybe spend the day binge watching the Great British Baking Show.

I say this every election, but it’s always true. I LOVE Colorado’s voting system. I’m sitting here knowing my ballot has already been accepted and counted. I didn’t stand in line, and I had plenty of time to fill out my ballot with its 42 (yes, 42!) races and issues.
