@IDJClub We use dalbavancin for OM in IVDUs who we can get to attend once a week for cannula & dose, patients with dementia or other compliance issues that means they can’t maintain IV access and occasionally for patients when we don’t have nursing capacity for daily visits

Finally, do you currently use long-acting glycopeptides (e.g. dalbavancin, oritavancin) for patients discharged with OM? If so, how often do you use them, and what do you see as their primary use case(s)? #IDJClub

@DrLindaDykes BMJ this week: “why is dying not seen as a diagnosis?”. I’ve virtually managed frail (w/capacity) patients declining admission with CAP through our amazing @mcrlco IV Team: plan for 48h antibiotics then palliation if no response. Supports a “good” death and enables patient choice

@Ramandeep_kaur9 I feel for you. Also work for the NHS and have been shielding and WFH and not gone back to site yet. Feels anxiety-inducing enough to go back to the familiar environment and the team I know well. You are very brave! I feel the same about restaurants and supermarkets too!

exciting. I have been WFH for BHRUT for nearly 8 wks so it will certainly be different but looking forward to meeting new colleagues & workplace. Since Thurs I also have been to a restaurant & supermarket with much trepidation & angst. My anxiety was quite high so🤞for tomorrow.

After 105 days of shielding, it ended on Thursday as I have moved in past few days to a new city. It was a tricky decision to make due to Leicester shielding extension but notices were already in. Tomorrow marks my first day physically in work after 108 days which is daunting &

@JoJenningsNHS I switched meds about a month in to lockdown/shielding and definitely glad I did it.

@Julie_oh Thanks Julie. I'm only ok if I don't really do anything 😝 definitely need to up my dose/try something else.

My body is very cross that I walked on the beach and splashed in the sea for a couple of days (very conservatively). In pain today with swollen ankles, hands, patella tendon 😞 think I need to see the rheumatology team to adjust my #arthritis meds
