Can you imagine the rush of adrenaline that must have been experienced when they realised they had accidentally sent this around all their JMOs? @NSWHealth

@adamgrimsley @DrEilidhMaria It triggers contemplation of why that may be the case - local attitudes / employment policies / departmental treatment of women etc etc. It doesn’t have to be interesting to you. You’re not obliged to read her posts. Hope that helps xoxo

@adamgrimsley @DrEilidhMaria 😂😩 you missed her point completely! She was highlighting how odd it was that she’s not worked with female consultants DESPITE there being many!

@ANNVYSHINSKY The problem is that a lot of lives and money depend on getting medical education policy right. Girls are now the majority of UK medical students. But women tend to leave full-time practice in droves, and avoid the most stressful specialisations.

It’s quite unfortunate how some people resent hard-working women for, well, being hard-working.

@ANNVYSHINSKY do you not understand what's actually going on? organizations will say "we need more women", and then try to include more women instead of having standards, and just bringing in everyone who meets the standards or above, regardless of demographic category

@bananatransit @teaforpterosaur What’s actually good for patients is doctors who are kind, compassionate and capable. Their gender matters much less but ultimately we should strive to have a workforce that represents the population it treats.

@teaforpterosaur He’s making a reasonable point that the medical school intake is becoming more and more female (as girl’s results are better) and more and more middle-class. I don’t think a medical workforce that’s all girls from private schools is actually good for patients. Do you?

@ShepherdWales I’m sorry but your argument lost any standing when you threw in ‘women who end up working part time’. Is your issue how candidates are selected into medical school or that you think men should be prioritised, even if they have lower grades?

@QualiaAddict @ShepherdWales The poster angry about Cardiff uni. I can’t remember clearly ( daughter is in final year now) but they take 8 subjects results. She had all 8 and 9s and ( A* and A** ) and just made the cut by 2 points. Tbh I don’t know any other university which takes GSCEs into consideration.

@ShepherdWales You are so right about summer babies - it is really unfair to treat them in the same way as older students in the cohort. Sometimes going back a year shows just how much that age gap matters (there was a great R4 clip on PM about this a few years ago).

@calhall4892 @ShepherdWales Totally depends on the medical school. They all have different selection criteria. Even 10 years ago when I was applying this was the case.

@ShepherdWales Why are they looking at GCSE? It was my understanding that they look at your previous year's AS results before GCSE which if applying to the ultra competitive end of uni (Oxbridge, medicine and dentistry) need to be A*

@ProfRobHoward Provided there are jobs for British trained doctors. If I wanted a job in say Australia I would have to work in area of need. I’m completely fine with that!

@JuniorDocTox @DrEilidhMaria Ahh..ok I'll explain. She used a personal anecdotal evidence "I have never once", to suggest there are very few "female consultants". Hope that helps.

@JuniorDocTox @DrDanGreaves @DrEilidhMaria My comment is distinct from medical training. Doctoring is tough and sux. 60-70 hours per week. 1 week vacation. 6 days per week. Or get out the way. Compensation is a separate issue.

@dwoodhouse1 @ishsulin Even 5 minutes per patient is 80 mins. That’s a significant chunk of time when it’s not usually factored into your working day.

@DrDanGreaves @DrEilidhMaria Doctoring is 60-70 hours per week if not more. Always was. If you disagree get out the way. Let someone else have that medical education slot which are extremely limited. No society anywhere can allocate resources for train g and then work part time.

Formaldehyde is a target of fear-mongering about vaccines. 12,000 micrograms (ug) of formaldehyde in a pear. A baby produces 1,100 ug daily. Adults? 1.5 ounces daily. A vaccine? Less than 100 ug. You produce 425,000X MORE formaldehyde EVERY DAY than what might be in a vaccine.

Are we really out here raising sons for 18 years just to gleefully hand them over for Christmas to the first college girlfriend that comes along without any outlet for grievance airing lest we be subject to critical social media pile-ons??
