Cancer mastectomies remove diseased tissue to save lives or prevent spread. Top surgery removes healthy breasts for cosmetic/psychological reasons. Those are not the same thing. Calling irreversible damage to healthy, functional body parts “mutilation” is a factual description of the procedure, not an insult to cancer patients who had no choice…Conflating elective surgery with life-saving surgery is the actual category error.

I think describing top surgery as mutilation is really insensitive to women who have to have their breasts removed because of breast cancer

Today I got called “a man” in public as a trans woman 🏳️‍⚧️ I was literally just walking minding my business when a guy looked at me and loudly said : “that’s a dude” ☠️ I turned around and asked : “and what exactly about it bothers you so much?” 🤔 He immediately started laughing awkwardly and said : “it’s just weird” So I said : “No, what’s weird is being this obsessed with an actual stranger.” 😭 Suddenly he had nothing else to say ✌🏻 A few years ago this would’ve ruined my entire day… Now it just reminds me how strong i am to exist as trans women 🏳️‍⚧️💕

My nephew is trans. He started telling us at about age 3 that he was a little boy, not a little girl, and he wanted to be called "son" by his dad. No one ever suggested this to him or encouraged him to do it despite him not wanting to. We all just said "sure if that's what you want" and didn't fight him on it. He'll be 18 soon and still living as a boy. Trans kids exist. They deserve to live safely.
