@fujiryosan @Matt_Muscle_Guy @MYOTWlTTER I've just taken a quick look so far, but I'm interested. We know so much about the factors that regulate the slow oxidative program but not so much about the fast twitch fibers as pointed out in the paper. Valuable insight here.

@emgen_science It was me!! That was the first year I lectured in the course. Glad it was useful. People wiser than me say that that discovery was Nobel worthy btw.

@KSadtler @bdcosgrove The freezing step it so important. So many people do this wrong and waste their samples. I stick the muscle in tragacanth and freeze the muscle in very cold isopentane. I use PFA for reporter staining.

Will be headed to Halifax, Canada next week for #WMS2022. Will be live tweeting cool talks, excellent posters, and my quest for the perfect Canadian beaver tails.

I'm always surprised by the effectiveness of calcium phosphate transfection of cells. It's a kind of science magic to me🪄.

@LGMDR3_LGMD2D @ARMI_Labs In theory, cell therapy is a great ideal, but how does one deliver cells to every muscle in the body? Delivery of cells is the main issue with cell therapy. I think gene therapy - gene replacement or CRISPR have great potential.

@oligogirl @LGMDR3_LGMD2D @Capricor Which was? Some of the cardiac cell therapy trials using 'cardiac progenitors' had a placebo and showed improvements as well. Turns out, it wasn't the cells that led to improved cardiac function but rather the immune response elicited from the cells

@Justin_G_Boyer @LGMDR3_LGMD2D @Capricor Indeed it is not about the cells but the factors they shed in exosomes. I’m also skeptical until I see data in larger cohorts but I do think that the data seen so far in smaller cohorts support doing larger cohort studies
