the new State of Fertility Report for the US just came out and it’s a real blackpill the main findings are basically: - the current fertility decline is worse than any other - if this keeps going, US population will start declining in less than a generation, much sooner than most forecasts assumed - americans still want about 2.4 children, but are having fewer than 1.6 - culture matters A LOT. supportive friends, people around you and even celebrities affect how many children people want - if policymakers actually want to change this, it will require a lot of money and serious interventions people often say america was built by immigrants, but around 80% of all the people who have ever lived in america were born there and without american children there's no america left you can use immigration to support population growth for a while, but no country can survive indefinitely if the people already there stop having children

President Trump promised not to add to the national debt during his presidential campaign -- and, in fact, that he would pay it down. He has failed badly on both counts. President Trump has become the worst-spending President in our history, adding ~$2.2-$2.3 T to the national debt in each of his first two years and in his second term. He's on track to add $9T+ in his second term, beating the previous high-water mark of $7.8T -- set by his first term. Only if you voted for President Trump, please reply with your feelings on this issue and his first 18 months more broadly.

To argue that Yang Zhilin went back to China because it was easier to start an AI company and raise funds there is ludicrous. You think American VCs wouldn’t fund a superstar AI researcher with a PhD from Carnegie Mellon and a degree from Tsinghua? Look at his rockstar background below. Let’s take away all immigration friction pretense. Why not do everything we can to make it easier and retain superstar talent? Staple green cards to the top 10 AI computer science PhD degrees NOW. Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, etc. It would be a massive success. The USA can run the table on global AI talent. We just need to use our brains.

It’s not “disrespect”. This is deliberate communist subversion. They’re systematically dismantling the rule of law so they can hurt you with impunity and destabilize the country. Our failure to properly diagnose and address this problem is why our major cities are so screwed.

“Defund the police.” “Clear the jails.” “Abolish ICE.” These are symptoms of a growing disrespect for law enforcement & the rule of law. I refuse to indulge these attitudes in Ohio. Time to crush crime in our cities and restore respect for the men & women in blue.

Hey Mark, you're worth around $35 million while continuing to land major Hollywood roles. You could donate $25-30 million tomorrow and still live an extremely comfortable life for the rest of your days. At a conservative 4% safe withdrawal rate, even a remaining $5-10 million would generate roughly $200,000-$400,000 a year in passive income, several times what the average family earns. On top of that, you own multiple luxury properties, including a New York penthouse reportedly worth around $7 million, and you're still taking on film roles that pay millions. Lecturing others while sitting on tens of millions yourself is peak Hollywood... As for Elon, his charitable giving has far exceeded your entire net worth tenfold. And as for the idea that he can simply "solve world hunger" by writing one giant cheque only demonstrates your fundamental misunderstanding of how global hunger actually works. It's not a problem that disappears because one wealthy person transfers money into the system. You need a basic economics lesson and a mirror, because your hypocrisy is matched only by your lack of self-awareness.
Mark Ruffalo@MarkRuffalo

Hello @ElonMusk. This is how you are perceived. Not too late to course correct but it’s getting pretty late. You certainly have the extra money on hand to really help the people of the world instead of the hellbent road of chaos and destruction you are ludicrously barreling down. Put down the Ket straw. 🤪

@danmcgregor @Anc_Aesthetics @GhostofAO2 @TheAmericaMan1 Those aren’t mutually exclusive. Audiences can view it and be unmoved while the studio is also paying for positive reviews so word of mouth is good. It actually makes sense to spend money to keep reviews positive online if you are worried the movie is underwhelming but has hype.

There's just no way the actual audience rating is 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Metacritic has the movie at a 5.3/10 user score, Letterboxd has it at 4.3 and IMDB has it at 8.3/10. Rotten Tomatoes is removing negative reviews at the behest of the studio.

@ProfDBernstein It makes perfect sense if you don’t believe in capitalism. A private citizen in business for him self is inherently selfish; an immoral individual. A communist, much like an Italian fascist, believes a man is but an atom of the collective. The collective provides the groceries.

This DSA stooge literally says that if a small business owner who has to work in the "real" economy can't compete with a grocery store owned and massively subsidized by his own government, "maybe he shouldn't be in that business." Business owners should see this as a call to war. The government has sufficient resources to put *anyone* out of business if it decided to.

The 100 year old pipe that just sinkholed Sunset Boulevard was already on LA's replacement list. Construction was scheduled for 2031. LADWP budgeted $280 million to replace 6.4 miles of this exact 36-inch trunk line. The project is still in the design phase. Work starts in 2031 and finishes in 2035. The pipe burst 5 years before the first crew would have touched it. The replacement math explains why this keeps happening. Last fiscal year, LADWP's goal was to replace 1.1 miles of trunk pipe. They replaced less than one. LA has roughly 550 miles of trunk line. Even at the department's new target of 3.5 miles a year, each mile gets replaced once every 157 years. Riveted steel pipe lasts about 100. And Sunset Boulevard has run this exact experiment before. In 2014, a trunk line from 1921 ruptured under Sunset near UCLA and sent roughly 20 million gallons through campus, submerging Pauley Pavilion. That break is what made LA's aging pipes national news and launched the current replacement program. Twelve years later: same street, same vintage of pipe, same aerial footage. Cities schedule pipe replacement on political time. Pipes fail on material time. LA is replacing 100 year pipes on a 157 year cycle, and this morning is what the gap between those two numbers looks like.

The biggest challenge MLS has over the next 5-10 years to win over the millions of American 🇺🇸 soccer fans that don’t care about the league. The “sign a star” gimmick won’t work. They also won’t choose MLS in terms of quality when they have at least 5 other leagues with better quality on the field. That leaves MLS with bringing them in due to some personal connection, which is tough. You can’t say “support local” and force people to buy into a very “corporate league”. Liga Mx 🇲🇽 ain’t better than MLS but Mexican Americans have a personal connection to it, which is why it has more viewers than MLS in the 🇺🇸 So how does MLS solve this?
