Many years ago, old houses used to have asbestos in their insulation which is a carcinogen. Now, since we have discovered the harmful effects of the chemicals that used to be in insulation, it has since been modified. @franklinlorax #apesair

Every time I leave my room, I make sure to turn off my lights. This decreases the amount of coal burned in order to produce energy for our houses! #apesenergy @franklinlorax

This is my car that runs only on regular unleaded gasoline (Petrol). There are alternative vehicles that are better for the environment like hybrid cars that use gasoline and the battery, or electric cars, but these can be more inconvenient to fill up. @franklinlorax #apesenergy

When I was getting gas I noticed the ethanol signs that we talked about in class. All gas stations are required to put 10% ethanol in their gas because it oxygenates the exhaust so water vapor is released. #moreecofriendly #apesenergy @franklinlorax

In the background of this photo I took in Puerto Rico, there’s a dug up mountain. Because of all the vegetation, the soil here is very nutrient packed and good for growing. That is why companies here dig it up to send to places with unusable soil. #apesland @franklinlorax

This plant is planted in some good nutrient soil. It has peat moss, which allows for good drainage. There is also some compost that evens out what the native soil lacks. It has just enough fertilizer to not become toxic, but enough to boost its growth. @franklinlorax #apesland

Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, our population is using masks in order to keep each other healthy. This has decreased death rates around the world to keep stable populations! @franklinlorax #apespop

Humans in the United States use more resources than any other country. One resource we overuse is gas. One way we can reduce this is by using other transportation. Like using rip sticks to travel! #apespop @franklinlorax

Here are foods that could be used for efficient energy and nutrition for survival. Individually, they would give enough kilocalories to survive, but mixing them is best way to get a balanced diet, and you wouldn't suffer from malnutrition or undernutrition.@franklinlorax #apespop

In my backyard, we have several ash trees within the woods. Since the invasive species of emerald ash borers came to the United States, they have killed many of our ash trees by feeding on the bark, leaving the trees dead as you can see in the picture. @franklinlorax #apeseco

Forests play an important role by providing us with oxygen and wood, which are made into products. When forest fires are suppressed, it can cause a layer of debris on the forest floor, causing new fires to cause more damage to the environment. @franklinlorax #apeseco

Although she is definitely ferocious enough to fend for herself, there is neither intraspecific nor interspecific competition for Odessa in this house. This cat gets food and water with no competition every morning and night. 😎 #apeseco @franklinlorax

My bearded dragons, Spike and Lucy, display both K and R strategist traits. They can produce many offspring that they do not care for, however, they also have a long life span. @franklinlorax #apeseco

At my house we have 2 plants that aren't usually in Wisconsin. The plant on the left is a Dracaena marginata, which is normally living in a tropical biome with temperatures 75-95 degrees F. To the right is a cactus and it enjoys a hot, dry, desert biome. #apeseco @franklinlorax

Franklin has a separate sewer system, so we don't have combined sewer overflow. This allows our waste water treatment plant to focus on the water that is from households and buildings. This blue sign is a good reminder to not pollute to help the Earth! @franklinlorax #apeswater
