My mom grew up with an absent father and an autistic mother. My mom has been my grandmother's primary caretaker since she was 10 years old. She pretty much grew up without parental figures. Then she married my dad who was hopelessly in love with her throughout his life. (1/2)

I like quiet people. Who are not loud to be interesting. Who read books no one talks about. Who can sit through a 2-hour documentary about bees. They're smart, but have no need to show off. No performance. Just depth. Just a calm presence. They notice things. They think deeply. They understand more than they say. The ones who stay low-key and private in a world obsessed with being seen. And that’s what makes them rare.

Humans spent centuries writing books, essays, articles, and research papers.
Then we used all that human writing to train AI systems to write like humans.
Then we built another AI system to inspect the writing and say, “This looks AI suspiciously.”
So now we have one machine trained on humans to sound human, and another machine trained on humans to figure out whether the first machine sounds a little too human.
And after all that, a stressed human still has to make the final call.

I think it's pretty arrogant to decide that someone lacks depth just because they don’t share your interests because it assumes your preferences are the standard and instead of just one version of what interesting can look like. If we flipped it you could just as easily

Wanted to go on a date with a babe and when I suggested we start at the Natural science museum and visit the national art gallery she said it's not her thing. Fair enough. I did not continue the conversation. Immediately lost interest. Dating now is the pits.
