So let’s get this straight:
- Tigers called the Dodgers, wanted to get a deal done immediately
- Rays weren’t even given a chance, Tigers didn’t care for their prospects
- Made the price for Milwaukee much higher than for the Dodgers

@Soly_Reds I agree that not trading Singer would likely be a mistake.
But trading him for nothing as you implied here would be an even bigger mistake. He’s been solid for a while. He has at least some positive value to this team if you keep him, so you’d have to get something in return

The only two mistakes you could make are:
1. Not trading him
2. Extending him a qualifying offer
Trading him for $12.50 is better than this.

The Reds are still discussing a number of their rental players with multiple clubs, but a source said it appears that Cincinnati will hold on to impending free agent Brady Singer, who could be a qualifying offer candidate.

@theacarr21 blocking is not the most important skill for a C. he's terribly weak at framing, which matters more.

Every NYY fan is freaking out about needing a C, and Wells hasn't been good. But also, it's hard to see where they go. Jeffers/Goodman probably aren't moving? Stephenson is a poor defender and just-OK hitter. Not a lot of options here.

@BarflyBill As good as he’s been recently, especially with his injury history, I don’t think he takes it. He probably goes for a longer term deal somewhere.
Worst case, you solve the problem of a 1-year stopgap until Duno is ready.

@DTMoore7 @bryce_spalding Some players would prefer a longer term, lower AAV deal. If he could get 3/$50M instead of 1/$22M (last year’s QO) for example, some pitchers would prefer that due to injury risk.
