Framing, or how teachers introduce new concepts and tasks to students, is the focus of Q3. Framing can steer students to a fixed or growth mindset. It helps students feel free to be a work in progress as they learn. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

@RutgersAltRoute A3: use words like “yet”, “the next step”, “craft”, and “process” to encourage students to expand the paradigm to go beyond finishing something and being “good”/“bad” at it. This celebrates the process of learning or completing tasks rather than an end result with judgment.

@RutgersAltRoute A5 #TeacherEd I really feel that our school could benefit from a reset room or area. We currently do not have one but I feel it could make a major impact. Often the students are given a timer for a break. Then they simply roam the halls. A specific room or area would help.

@RutgersAltRoute A2: As an English Teacher, I love using graphic organizers. Teaching students to record their thoughts on paper before going to write the assignment helps them focus on what they actually want to use. If they just jump to writing, they are all over the place #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

@arcurem @RutgersAltRoute I think this is much more effective than closing his tabs when he gets off track. My students have no access to unsupervised technology so everything is paper and pencil. It is "old school" but it is what works for them. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

@RutgersAltRoute A2 A recent modification I made in my classroom was that one student was having problems and distractions on his Chromebook. So I now modify his assignments to only on paper to help this student out. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

@jessktran @RutgersAltRoute Absolutely. You have to have lots of options to accommodate everyone's needs but be sure the right ones are used by the right students and do not become a source of distraction to that student or others. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

@JayZonday @RutgersAltRoute I find the same thing. They also become so reliant on them that you have to set up a plan to extinguish their dependence on it. You must strike the right balance. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

@RutgersAltRoute A2: Fidget toys and any type of fidget boards have definitely been a blessing for me in my classroom (special education 11 students ) but at times with some of my students with more severe cases — fidget toys can become a source of overstimulation #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

@erumjavaid100 @RutgersAltRoute I find this helpful, too. Having to sit down and attend for an entire period is too intimidating for some students. If they are working, they earn a short break. If they can continue this without abusing it, we keep doing it. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

@RutgersAltRoute A2) one of my students struggles with sitting in his seat and finishing his assignments. So I gave him small breaks during class to walk in the class or get a drink of water. This has been very helpful. He now finishes his assignment on time.#TeacherEd #SpecialED
