@rayengroves Some people are yet to learn the golden rule of parenthood: Resist being smug. Anything you're judging will soon be visited upon you! You're doing just fine, different kids throw up different challenges at different ages 😊

I’m genuinely so confused by people who say that a) their toddlers don’t have tantrums or b) my lack of discipline causes the tantrums bc the entire reason she’s throwing a tantrum is bc I’ve told her no and am not giving in. How are people circumventing this process?

ima break this down bc theres a REASON some women (like me) can travel with kids easily, while others (like DBC here) look at this with horror 1. most women reeeallyy crazily overpack. The only thing you need for a baby, is some diapers, and some wipes. like, WHAT ELSE COULD U POSSIBLY NEED?! I think most women are just highly neurotic and nervous because they have just 1 only child, and they end up packing these massive diaper bags full of nose-fridas and swaddles and toys. You really should not be doing that. Breathe. Strap the baby onto your back in a carrier and just GO. Dont overthink. Stuff 3 diapers and a mini wipes pack into your regular girl purse. Dont allow yourself to move away from your cute girly purses you had from before you got pregnant. 2. Most moms in america dont breastfeed. They really should. I get it though. My 2nd baby was lactose intolerant and I couldnt breastfeed it. But a lot of american moms have wierd hangups (why arent u snipping that tongue tie? just snip it..) and end up not breastfeeding. Then they end up walking around with triple the supplies. Which they shouldnt. Dont be neurotic. A ziploc baggy of formula (or a willow breast pump with batteries) + one bottle + one water bottle. Thats all... ..but you rly should breastfeed if you can. It makes for easy overseas vacations. All you need to bring is your enormous tits. Baby happy. Mommy busy partying while baby asleep full of milk. 3. modified baby carrier. Most baby carriers being sold come with an enormous amount of extra straps, pockets, and heavy stuff. A baby carrier that straps onto your body should NOT weigh 30 freaking pounds. Take some scissors and cut all the bullshit off the baby carrier. You definitely dont need the 3 pairs of straps that go around your waist and make it hard to breathe. Nor all the pockets. Imagine how women used to go gathering nuts and berries back in the prehistoric ages - the baby is just strapped onto their back or onto their front. Thats the feeling you're going for. Babies are very happy just traveling around and looking at all the fun things in the world. They dont cry almost at all when in a carrier and you can happily go shopping in Shanghai or hiking in Seoul. 4. dont be so neurotic / obsessed Lets say I wanna go to sardini or the beach house in south carolina. JUST PUT THE BABY ON THE SAND. I see moms obsessively wiping the sand off the baby, watching them like a hawk, fidgeting and obsessing. Just chill the f out pleasr. Watching these moms makes ME feel stressed out. Please drink 3 beers and relax. 5. theres prolly more that i forgot. im pregnant rn with #3. I'll post pics/updates when i take it to china for funs. lol 6. OH I FORGOT ONE MORE. MAKE USE OF THE BOOMERS. THERE IS LIKELY A BOOMER (or two) IN UR FAMILY that doesnt work, is retired, bitches as you a lot, calls you a dumb little millenial, and talks about "well back in my day...!" Please make full use of the boomers. RUB IT IN THEIR FACE that youre suuuch a good daughter for having a baby. Force them to say "thank you" for continuing the "family lineage". Remind them often that if you didnt have a baby, the family line would have ended. Make them watch the baby (for free) at least 2x a week while u go dinner or party with ur husband. 7. No car seats, use baby carrier or travel to walkable cities / public transportation cities. Tawian is a good place to take it. Dont bring strollers either. Only bother with a car seat if you want to do a camping trip! Highly recommend driving the baby to Assateague Island. Bring a tent, dont do a trailer. Baby loooves tent. And sand. Theres wild horses on that beach, too.

Dumb Bitch Capital, LLC@dumbbitchcap

Everyone quote tweeting pics of traveling with their children is respectfully highly delusional. I love my daughter but if you travel with a baby or a toddler you’re not going to have a good time. Packing for it is an olympic sport, good luck figuring out car seats / sleeping situations. Even after that you wont have any of their shit, and they’re going to be fussy in awkward situations like on a plane for several hours with no room to run around. You’re going to have to mentally block out half of the trip because it’s not chill at all. Kids are great but don’t be a lying asshole. Thank you for your attention on this matter

Apparently, rich people buy yachts so they can vacation wherever and stay at a floating house instead of a hotel. But if this is the case, why isn't there a market for superluxury RVs/campervans? Wouldn't rich people also want to drive everywhere in a fancy house on wheels?

@Cr7Godbrand I noticed this pattern in myself and enforced a similar routine. It is self-induced anxiety but to overcome it, I had to develop awareness of the conditioning that made me subconsciously respond to societal cues, and consciously step back from them.

I’ve observed this pattern in my own marriage, in my brother’s marriage, and in the marriages of my sisters I’ve lived with. They all seem to dislike being bored and always want to be doing several things at once. Then they create this unnecessary anxiety on themselves. I sat my wife down and set a clear routine. I told her that laundry should be done only on weekends. Cooking and cleaning should also be done on weekends. We prepare three different meals during the weekend, and those meals last us for five days. We rotate the meals. If she craves something else during the week, she’s free to cook it if she feels like it. I also made it clear that I’m not working 14 hours a day just to come home and help load laundry or clean. I told her that after work, both of us should come home and rest. There’s no need to worry about cooking and cleaning until the weekend….which we'll handle it together. Since I established this routine, she has been sleeping better and seems less stressed. Women be creating unnecessary stress for themselves and then project that stress onto their partners, as if their partner forced that mindset on them.
Bonfire Brotherhood@BonfireWisdom

@Cr7Godbrand This is a very insightful post about a very real phenomenon that women do. As a husband, I can attest that my wife absolutely does this.

@JulieLovesFluff You've got the biggest house in the group, so better off, perhaps? Don't want a 'thief' in your house, rather than a child who made a mistake. Punished your 9 year old for a month, for losing something (granted, she didn't do it). You're not coming across well. 😬

Just got an email from the homeschool coop secretary that another parent discovered their child with a Switch case and 5 games that doesn't belong to them which they admitted to stealing from my house and she'd like to know when a good time is to return it to us. My nine year old has been grounded for nearly a month because I thought she'd lost it somewhere being negligent and half the games weren't hers. Secretary doesn't want to tell me what child stole it and thinks I'm being unreasonable for asking. I told my husband I don't want to host anything anymore because I don't want to have a thief in my house and he's emailed the secretary to that effect. We're the only house big enough to host PE, the Christmas Party and cooking class so unless they change course and tell us that's all canceled. I'm going to find out anyway because the parent emailed the secretary about it and the email server the coop uses is literally a private server my husband set up that's sitting in my house downstairs and the disclaimer says we can review it and it's not private. I think she's forgetting that. I am so mad right now and I've got to apologize to my child, she was the victim and I thought she'd done something wrong.

@acottagemouse I had a screamer too. Turned out she had tummy pain and we had to make it our number one mission to get her burping/farting. All the movements, all the positions, I think what worked best was (very weak diluted) fennel tea. Keep going, you will figure it out!

@_nomadic_soul Everyone’s talking about being better at sex, but sex is the full stop in a much longer sentence. If everything before is off (communication, care, connection), the sex will always feel off too. Bad sex is rarely about sex. It’s about everything that happens before it.

people are like “my kids won’t play independently” but the only way to teach them to play independently is to give them the chance. yes, it’s a slow and gradual process and some kids are better than others but it’s actually a GOOD thing to not constantly entertain your kids
Cassie Pritchard@hecubian_devil

Ok obviously this mom is being way too hard on herself but can’t you just leave the kid alone with some blocks? Why are the choices either “screen” or “high investment active parenting”? That seems like a weird dichotomy a lot of people have embraced
