@lllliatttt @charlove I feel this. At various times, my parents — particularly my mom — did some pretty extraordinary things to help several of my friends. From the inside, I can tell you it was 75% because it was the right thing to do and 25% symptom of other issues in my parents’ marriage, etc.

@charlove i think that what they are doing is objectively good and more boomers/empty nesters should do the same AND in this particular case it is also an expression of some deep issues that made them less than ideal parents, so it’s a constant reminder of the worst of my childhood ♥️
