This is appalling. Indigenous people are the original inhabitants of this continent and, here in New Mexico, we live that truth every day. The fact that the Solicitor General of the United States would hesitate on our citizenship is outrageous and horrific. He doesn’t understand basic American history or the law, and he has no business holding this position.

STATES have authority over our elections and voting—NOT a delusional President trying to make it harder for Americans to exercise their right to vote and have a say in the future of our country. Just like Trump, WA state votes by mail safely and successfully. This Executive Order belongs in the trash.

The Navajo Nation Council is right. The SAVE Act would make it harder for Native Americans and millions of others to vote. Voting is a right, not a privilege. I'll always stand with tribes to protect the right to vote.

The 14th Amendment could not be more clear: if you are born in America, you are a U.S. citizen. Doesn't matter what Trump thinks. He can't rewrite our Constitution on his own.
