Advocacy may occur in closed meetings; however, if boards remain silent publicly, they become complicit in the misinformation and deception that is being attempted by government. School boards should not fear retribution for making statements that contradict government positions.

You ever stop driving your car to take it into the garage to get fixed before it breaks down or fails and harms you, your family, and others?

@JoanneCV57 @PremierScottMoe 25+ children in one room all day. This is not realistic of any real world situation. Our schools should reflect collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication. Our children deserve an education system that has evolved with & for them!

This February, a new specialized support classroom pilot project will be launched that focuses on helping manage and de-escalate behavioural incidents. This project will help address classroom complexity by assisting students who need targeted interventions in the short-term. Our government is providing a $3.6 million investment to fund the pilot in eight school divisions across the province which will run until the end of the 2024-25 school year.

@JoanneCV57 @PremierScottMoe Children in rows of desks all day.Endless worksheets as demonstrations of learning.Hierarchy of teacher over child, rather than learning partners.Outdated assessments.Silence preferred over dialogue.Less play.Less outdoor time.Punishment models vs Social skill support mindset.

@JoanneCV57 @PremierScottMoe There would be next to no need for this if our society would evolve in our visions of what schools should be.We are operating with archaic systems, w/ outdated practices that our kids are tired of and are proving no longer works.

@PremierScottMoe Is this seriously a funded pilot?Wasn’t this done in the 70’s and called a resource room? Are we seriously going back to this? Why were educators not consulted? If we honestly believe segregating children is best practice, we’ve all lost.

We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. They have NO standardized tests until PISA in HS and they outperform us every time. They have multiple recesses daily, & options like crafts, home Ec, PE, Arts. etc. And teachers have more control over teaching than politicians!

Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash, especially for elementary grades. Let students go home to run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

A 4-day school week for students is perfect for ALL involved. TEACHERS can use the 5th day to catch up with their insane workload! STUDENTS can catch up & participate in ANY off-campus, extra curriculars they’re interested in without the wildness of a minute-to-minute schedule.

The impact of gradelessness
The impact of gradelessness@gradlessness·
In gradeless classrooms, feedback can act as grades, to give students a reference of how they're doing. This allows them to grow with individualized teaching to lead them towards a path that best suites them, personally.
