Did you know Israel and Lebanon already signed a peace deal back in 1983? So who killed it? On May 17, 1983, Israel and Lebanon signed a US-brokered agreement that formally ended the state of war between them that had existed since 1948. Its preamble proclaimed the "termination of the state of war" between the two neighbors. The terms were concrete: 1. Mutual recognition of each country's sovereignty and territorial integrity 2. A phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, alongside the establishment of a Security Zone in southern Lebanon 3. A commitment by each side not to allow its territory to be used as a base for "hostile or terrorist activity" against the other 4. It even floated future agreements on the movement of goods, products and persons on a non-discriminatory basis It was signed by Israeli David Kimche and Lebanon's Antoine Fattal, mediated by the US, and ratified by the Lebanese parliament. So what happened? Syria. On November 1, 1983, Syria demanded that Lebanon cancel its May 17 agreement with Israel and recognize special security interests of Damascus. Hafez al-Assad had boots on the ground and no intention of leaving. The Syrian regime correctly calculated that by fomenting internal chaos, they could force Lebanon to choose between the peace treaty and domestic survival. After US forces withdrew, the formal abrogation occurred on March 5, 1984, when the Lebanese cabinet officially cancelled the treaty under direct Syrian diktat. A peace deal Lebanon's own parliament approved was destroyed not by the Lebanese people, but by an outside occupier with a veto over Lebanese sovereignty. In 1983 it was Syria holding the gun. Today it's Hezbollah and its master, Iran. The occupier changed uniforms, but the playbook is identical: a foreign-backed militia that answers to Tehran holds Lebanon hostage and denies it the right to make peace. Hezbollah built an Iranian forward base on Lebanese soil, the exact "hostile activity" the 1983 deal was meant to outlaw. Every Lebanese government since has faced the same impossible choice Damascus once forced: peace, or survival under the militia's guns. Lebanon already chose peace once. Its parliament ratified it. The only thing standing in the way then, as now, was a foreign power occupying Lebanon against its own interests.

A long time ago, I explained that the mechanism of "entryism" that Woke Communists use goes like this: 1) Demand access 2) Demand accommodation 3) Demand power 4) Demand control 5) Demand fealty This is on display again now very plainly. In Step 1, they insist they should be allowed in, or they join something that has open accessibility. When they come in, they do not assimilate to the values of the group they joined and, ostensibly, wanted to join. They retain their radical (counter-hegemonic) values and make problems. In Step 2, they begin to hold the institution hostage by demanding that their radical views be accommodated through a shift in the values of the organization. Otherwise, they don't feel "included," and they proceed to make various moral and practical threats (usually soft threats) against the organization for not bending to their will. In Steps 3-5, they demand an increasing amount of control over the institution until that is total and all their ideological enemies have been purged, including all the original members of the institution who wouldn't change. If they are hindered at any point from Step 2 onward, they will threaten to burn the entire institution down through any means necessary, usually by alleging various conspiracies in the leadership and using them to split the membership and rally external pressure. They are content to burn down any institution they enter but cannot control. We are seeing this on display today again, though not from the feminists or critical race theorists or queer theorists. It is from the anti-Jewish radicals this time, significantly targeting the institution known as the Republican Party, which it entered through so-called "Libertarians" and radical-Right non-conservative postliberals (socially conservative socialists). They are, in the wake of Thomas Massie's primary defeat, screaming about how they will either be accommodated in their awful views or else they'll burn everything down. The hostage-taking mentality and unwillingness to adapt to the values of the organization they colonized is on full display. It is pathological, Dark Tetrad narcissicism running wild in its injury. They're also screeching enthusiastically about how they have captured the youth and so will emerge victorious in the end. Every normal person sees these young people as infected with a mind virus with some mixture of pity, horror, and fury, yet their radical groomers groom on. They were welcomed in, but their views are not being accommodated, so they're in "burn it all down" mode now. Do you understand why they deserve to be called "Woke Right" now? Even though many of them are actually openly Leftists and radical Democrats...

Political parties -- which are private organizations -- should stop using public funds for their internal nomination processes. A while ago, I watched the infamous 47-minute video documenting the atrocities of October 7th — the one not made publicly available, to protect the privacy of the victims. The worst part of this video is not what it displays, but who is displaying it: the perpetrators themselves. Gleefully. Sadistically. Unabashedly. Most of the footage was filmed by Hamas terrorists on their GoPro bodycams, some also by ordinary Gazan civilians on their cellphones. Even the Nazis tried to cover up their atrocities, but Hamas brags about theirs for the entire world to see. The killers are euphoric throughout the massacre, and their relentless, ecstatic cries of "Allahu Akbar" (punctuated by the occasional "Kill the Jew!") are simply nauseating. Some images are seared into my memory forever. I will never forget the two boys in their underwear — one with his eye socket hanging out of his face — asking his brother whether he thinks they're going to die, while the Hamas monster who had just thrown a grenade in their saferoom helps himself to a drink from their fridge, taking a casual break from the slaughter. Neither will I ever forget the terrorists playing football with a severed head. Not "rape" in scare quotes, as the apologists would have it, but sadistic, murderous sexual violence, documented in a new damning new report by The Civil Commission, an independent Israeli women's rights NGO. And it was premeditated and organized. The terrorists crossing into Israel carried printed Arabic-to-Hebrew phrasebooks with handy expressions like "take off your pants," "lie down," "spread your legs," and "don't make trouble." I wonder why they expected to need those particular phrases? I know one thing: no civilized country on earth would tolerate the existence of an organization like Hamas on its border after October 7th. Not one.
