Why? Most of the people in India actually don't understand the struggle of a company which is trying to establish themselves as a defence manufacturer, yes there are issues with Marketing, but if you expect any company to invest in the R&D from the start without proper backing is not going to happen. Defence R&D is very expensive, and there is no guarantee of success. It's easier for companies running under parent company's Umbrella but not for those who are dependent on Investors to survive, that's why I don't Oppose Screwdrivergiri completely. To do R&D, you must survive first. Also having DRDO chief as one of the Board member shows they are actually trying to do something right, he has experience, if used well they can actually do good in R&D, lets not be pessimist all the time, saying wrong to wrong is fine, but assuming wrong all the time hits morale.

Saturn uprated it to 20KN thrust & now HAL is asking to uprate further to 25KN for weaponized ground attack version & asking for Mfg. TOT. There are gazillion applications for this engine if the HAL R&D team was not so inept.

I feel HAL doesn't have the man power to get things done.

HTFE25 with an afterburner dubbed the HTFE40 was supposed to power the Jaguar Darin 3's after the Honeywell engine upgrade was found to be too expensive. 3 squadrons were not upgraded from Darin 2 standards because the current engines were deemed underpowered
