If you subscribed to “Live from the Bunker” you wouldn’t be surprised by Saudi Arabia’s historic upset of Argentina today. Instead you would have bet on the team used to playing football in front of sober fans.

@jessesingal exactly this but acknowledging the history here including the Arab massacre of jewish captives in 1948 is impossible for the historically illiterate river to the sea movement. Because of it this area holds special significance to Israelis and will always remain in the country.

4/More background on this particular area of the West Bank from a reader. I'm not familiar with the specifics here, but there are parts of the WB that have long been effectively penciled in for future land swaps back when a two-state solution was a remotely realistic possibility.

1/there is a baseline level of bullshit coming from activists that makes it extremely hard to evaluate their claims. i watched a lot of these videos. i saw police manning perimeter while activists repeatedly antagonized them, physicall pushed the barriers toward them, and broke

New Yorkers don't just have the right to protest the sale of stolen Palestinian land -- they have a responsibility to. NYPD should be protecting our first amendment rights, not blocking and pepper spraying us when we exercise them.

@jessesingal @neontaster not to mention the fact that the only settlements with land for sale here are an area that will remain part of Israel in any 2 state solution.

More antisemitic photos emerging from Ann Arbor. They're also wearing the keffiyeh, so there's no confusion what their agenda is. Interesting how they're minimizing or denying the Holocaust while advancing their cause.

Interesting provision: "no team would be able to win three consecutive top-five picks" Would have prevented: Spurs (Wemby, Castle, Harper) Pistons (Cade, Ivey, Ausar, Holland) Cavs (Mobley, Garland, Okoro) Rockets (Green, Jabari, Amen, Reed)

The NBA has disclosed to its 30 GMs a singular new anti-tanking reform that expands the draft lottery to 16 teams, flattens odds, and have a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams are penalized with fewer lottery balls for the No. 1 pick. ESPN details: espn.com/nba/story/_/id…

@neqyve @buffsoldier_96 1. There was no country in the world open to accepting large numbers of Jews trying to escape the gas chambers, so the idea that without the Z word, Arab populaces would be the exception is absurd. 2.What other group has 2k years of scars? 3. What refugees did Israel not take?

@KapinAmerica @buffsoldier_96 Issue is: 1. Zionism actually made jewish immigration more contentious in Palestine and Middleeast 2. Most groups do not have this explicit states too and they have their own scars 3. Israel has not become part of the problem, cause it also wouldn't take refugees...

I took Bill Coplin’s legendary introductory policy studies class as a first semester freshman @SyracuseU and decided after about two weeks in his class that I’d add his program as my second major. Coplin pulled the infamous fake ID prank on my first day of college. He made fun of me (and others) for pursuing sports media, and maybe most importantly, he routinely showed this overconfident kid why he didn’t know anything yet. As a student and later TA, his program taught me incredible life and career skills. It introduced me to lifelong friends, and incredibly bright and driven people. His classes were so illuminating and different from the traditional college class. He pushed us to help the local community and leave the campus bubble. Congrats to Coplin on his retirement. He was truly the most unique and influential professor I’ve ever had

@DanFriedman81 @JoshKraushaar exactly this — in my experience people for who judaism is important (including reform people) are more supportive and passionate Israel than ever before.

The Reform movement is historically very progressive. They were all in on woke and Black Lives Matter and all that stuff. Since October 7, every Reform congregation I am aware of has emphatically reaffirmed its support of Israel and cut ties with progressive organizations that will not support Israel (or progressives have cut ties with Jewish communities). In most of these congregations, there are a handful of families that are “anti Zionist,” and they either deal with it or quit. Not a lot of families have quit synagogues or temples over this. There is not a significant controversy in any Jewish communal organization. The people who claim to be “anti-Zionist Jews” are not involved in any capacity in Jewish communal life and most of them are not Jewish and only started pretending they were to bash Israel after October 7.

This narrative has been pushed in stuffy media publications since at least 2010. It has never been my experience in any shul I have attended. Here's an anecdote from my current one: we pray for America, we pray for Israel, and at kiddush we talk about our kids and the cholent.

@dilanesper @ProfDBernstein I think you give most of the younger anti-Israel westerners way too much credit. I would bet very few under 40 even know what you mean when you say Oslo.

another way of looking at this is the anti-semites never stopped being anti-Israel. But why are they gaining converts from among people who were NOT previously anti-Israel? Answer? Because of Netanyahu's policies, especially on settlements and refusing to talk to the PA.
Jeremiah Johnson 🌐@JeremiahDJohns

Have there been any broadly pro-Israel groups that have taken an honest look at WHY Israel's popularity has cratered? Anyone doing self-reflection instead of just blaming it on antisemitism? Because antisemitism is real & rising, but it doesn't explain most of what's happening.

@YeahThatsKosher This is great thanks. I’m not even kosher but love the stands for the best food/smallest line combos. Brisket Nachos at Citi and the Pastrami Hot Dog in Philly are as good as anything you can get in the ballpark.

There's so much antisemitism in the U.S. that four of the top ten richest people in the world are American Jewish men. The pogroms must be starting any second now.
