B’H - 786  PUBLIC STATEMENT – FEMI MOHAMMED 1/2 My name is Femi Mohammed and the information in this statement is based on facts already in the public domain. I am waiving my anonymity to speak publicly about my experience. In February 2023, my victim support officer, without my knowledge and citing safeguarding reasons, reported a serious sexual assault involving an individual who, at the time, served as a Councillor.  Following this, I was encouraged by a West Midlands Police officer to speak out for the sake of other victims. I stand by my account. There was never any political motivation behind my actions and any suggestion otherwise erases me as the victim and is deeply harmful. During the investigation, I received numerous death threats, which ultimately led to a nervous breakdown. For my safety, my family sent me to Israel. After returning to the UK, the threats continued, and two threatening voicemails were left on my phone. I believed the voice on both messages may have been that of the same individual previously reported to the police. The case concerning the threats against my life went to trial in March 2025, and a not guilty verdict was returned. In court, District Judge Michael Wheeler’s comments, as reported in the Express & Star online, criticised aspects of the police investigation. The judge pointed out that the police had possession of the voicemails for a long time and could have used expert voice recognition technology to identify the individual but chose not to. In my view, this represents a serious failure that left me feeling vulnerable, unsafe and I have lived in fear for reporting what happened. Since then, I have faced ongoing intimidation and a sustained campaign of misinformation.
