The Pope could have politely declined the meeting or received her without treating her as a real archbishop, yet the Vatican’s warm welcome and protocol make it look like she is one. If they meet, he’ll almost certainly address her as “Your Grace” or “Archbishop,” never questioning her invalid orders. Those are scandal: not rudeness, but quietly normalizing what Christ’s Church has always said is impossible for women. Remember when Jesus entered the Temple turned marketplace (John 2:13-16)? He didn’t sit for polite dialogue. He drove out the sellers with zeal because necessary truth sometimes demands bold clarity, not endless accommodation. A simple meeting doesn’t require pretending error is truth.
