As of March 6, 2025, Uganda officially became the 21st member country of the Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA) by signing the Establishment Agreement. This marks a major milestone in expanding FEDA’s presence across the continent and reinforces its role in shaping Africa’s economic future. Uganda’s accession to FEDA, the development impact investment arm of Afreximbank, will boost the Fund’s capacity to provide long-term capital for African economies. This partnership will focus on accelerating economic transformation, value-added export development, and industrialization in Uganda. Over the past four years, Afreximbank has already approved over 813 million in financing for Uganda’s public and private sectors, with pipelines exceeding with a pipeline exceeding 1 billion in pending approvals. This move is a significant step for Uganda and Africa as a whole. By joining FEDA, Uganda is positioning itself to unlock sustainable development, strengthen its manufacturing and export sectors, and drive intra-African trade.
