I’ve followed this pretty closely and there is certainly evidence that the 10 would have preferred to dissolve and maximize revenue distributions. In the end, the P2 got what they were rightfully asking for since August plus a little extra.

NEW: Turns out the ACC filed a lawsuit against the FSU board of trustees yesterday. Complaint claims FSU is not allowed to challenge the grant of rights and that it should be determined in North Carolina. Believe @AlisonPosey14 first reported.

@DouglasTS @TonyOnly_ @wilnerhotline The threat of GK calling a board meeting to change bylaws/dissolve the conference was the point of P2 asking the court for a ruling on the bylaws. If the 10 had their way as voting members, the conference would have been dissolved. Otherwise, P2 agree to these terms in August

@TonyOnly_ @wilnerhotline Yeah. If the 10 give back $3m-$5m each that basically covers the pac12 network space leases, severance packages, and other wind down costs, and probably the legal fees. Then everyone walks away with what they wanted in the first place.

Remember when Wilner reported yesterday that there was a settlement in November but the 10 outgoing schools said no? Good times. Just a reminder that the poor leadership still is alive and well for the 10 outbound schools.

@ChrisWe26845329 @TaliaVono 100% Nonsense. These athletes have tutors and preferential scheduling of classes over regular students. They are pampered every step of the way. Kids are soft these days. If they don’t like traveling to play sports, they shouldn’t play sports. That’s part of the deal

@slmandel Their tv numbers have been increased due to the drama of the PAC’s demise and national media actually paying attention because of it. Without that demise it’s business as it usually was.

@RoHutson I wouldn’t extend Lanning until the season plays out. He’s yet to win a rivalry game and there’s a chance Beavs and Huskies play in p12 championship game. If so, PK might want Lanning fired. Quite frankly, the jury is still out on Lanning IMO

I agree with the premise. I just wonder if they will pony up that long term again. I think PK will step up and pay whatever is necessary to keep him as well. He wants a natty before he dies and this is the best shot he is going to find. Lots of speculation here but I agree.

@RoHutson Robb, after a day to think about it, I think the allure is generational wealth. It’s sad for the PNW and Oregon football, and I hope it doesn’t happen. But how hard would it be to turn down $100 million guaranteed 5-7 year contract? His kids and grandkids are set.

If somehow Arizona and Oregon finish tied at 7-2 (i.e., Ducks lose once/Cats win out), the tiebreaker could go pretty damn far down the wormhole.
