Jeff Kampersal of Penn State wins Women’s Hockey National Coach of the Year. I’m sorry, but that should have been Katie Lachapelle from Holy Cross. HC can’t have grads/grad transfers, and is much less resourced than other programs. Still, that program is steadily building.

And that’s nothing against Kampersal. I have always liked him. But this year, all the work that Holy Cross’ coaching staff has put into the program since they joined Hockey East paid off and they should get kudos.

With this move, two of the three U.S. pairs going to next week’s World Championships train at The Skating Club of Boston.

Northeastern women’s hockey earns their fourth-ever Frozen Four appearance with a 4-2 win over Minnesota.

Northeastern women’s hockey is now leading Minnesota 4-0 with 7:36 left in the second period with a trip to the Women’s Frozen Four on the line. Lisa Jönsson stellar again in net and great defensive performance by the Huskies, especially in this second period.

I wasn’t aware that Masters Academy, the new sports academy being built in Stow, MA, was going to offer figure skating, but they are. Some recognizable names hired to advise and coach so far: Mark Mitchell, Peter Johansson, Wendy Enzmann, and Konstantin Kostin.

This is much closer to home for her and her other commitments on the North Shore. I know she loved C-C, and I'm eager to see what she does at Bishop Fenwick.

I believe the last and only Hockey East women's championship game to go into a second OT was 2012, with BU defeating Providence 2-1. Northeastern and UConn going to a second OT today.

I love how Eloise Caron and Lily Shannon work together for Northeastern women's hockey, and the last two games have really showed off their playmaking ability together.

I have just discovered Mouaden and Bigot and they are my new favorite junior ice dance team. Why do I always like quirky French ice dance teams?
