Meghan walking herself partway down the aisle was so bizarre. We all know she wanted William to do it, but Charles stepped in, probably to save the royal family face. Or raised by her upper middle class white father with private school education, privilege and advantages? Latch key kid cooking her own TV dinners or hanging out on the set of a popular sitcom, going out for dinners at her favorite restaurant, camping in Big Bear, Hawaiian vacations, trips to Disneyland? Thomas won $750,000 in the lottery when Markle was 9 (in today’s economy, that’s the equivalent of $1,875,000 or £1.4 million) but she ate at the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler. Ok. That image, the one of privilege and growing up comfortably, did not fit the narrative she was selling Harry and his family. Optics didn’t favor him walking her down the aisle, and having him around to blow up her story would not do. The way Harry treated him is disgusting-the texts he sent? So disrespectful but Markle allowed it. Nobody finds it odd that she never allowed Harry to meet her father? Thomas paid the price for her ambition and need to foster an image that was not accurate. It’s interesting that Tom Bower’s new book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family is currently sitting at a 2-star rating out of 5 on Amazon UK. The book only launched today (March 26, 2026), so the early review absolutely reflects a coordinated attack from (Sussex Squad) fans rather than widespread reader feedback. I’m willing to bet her “fans” will be purposely giving the book poor reviews in any and all platforms.
