Meningitis is NOT contagious, so what’s with all the nonsense? As my friend Kat Watkins says on FB today: “Meningitis is an infection in the brain caused by toxins passing the blood brain barrier. You cannot 'catch' it, it's not contagious 🙄🙄 So all this closing of schools is just theatre. It's to scare you into making sure you jab yourselves and your kids up. How many of those who have presented with meningitis, had the covid vax? Since its a side effect? As well as a side effect of many other jabs 🤷🤷”

@primarythink @MrEFinch Exactly that. My school had very few uniform rules and I was humiliated and made to feel awful on a daily basis at school as we had no money and I wore cheap trainers. Everyone seemed to be judged on trainers and bags. If we’d all had to wear black shoes it would’ve been better.

@MrEFinch In areas of deep socio-economic challenge, uniforms can act as an equity measure: they take away the pressure (and cost) of “keeping up” with brands or fashions. Not a perfect solution, but one way schools try to reduce visible inequalities... I'd say that's a big one.

I've never really understood; can anyone outline the benefits of school uniform to me? Extra points if you can explain why these benefits are, apparently, irrelevant in those many countries that don't have uniform?

Lab rats of X. I have the opportunity to do a placement year at the end of my 2nd year. Do I do it or not? I wanted to go straight into a Masters programme (possibly genetics) after finishing so not sure it lab would be beneficial

@BluesnJazzxx @medlow_clare you can do it!! But don’t pressure yourself too much, an MSc and THEN a PhD is good option. Drop me a message if you ever want to bounce ideas about future plans off me, I was in a similar position to you in regards to going through my degree / postgrad stuff with a family etc!😀

@BluesnJazzxx @medlow_clare With your nursing background and your current biomedical degree you’d be well placed to enter into research which could combine the two. If you get a good degree classification skip the MSc and find a funded PhD!
