@TiredBambooLaw @BarExamTutor I would say that’s more true for the others. PW’s brand was very similar to Wilmer’s. The deal—and being the fist that took it—killed that. I am sure the firm will live on, but it will never recover the identity that it lost.

@BarExamTutor haha that's fair. my more cynical take is that some law firms rely on government consent for their work (aka FTC/regulatory approval for M&A deals, for example), and some law firms don't (because they litigate either way).

Sean Silverman: Silverman Bar Exam & LSAT Tutoring
If what he said to this class were true, we’re left with two possibilities. 1: Every firm that did not settle with Trump is now dead or will as a consequence of not settling be dead. 2: There’s something unique about his firm, such that it would have died if choosing not to settle, even if other law firms would not face the same consequences for that same decision. Neither of the above sound to me all that plausible.
The Harvard Crimson@thecrimson

Brad Karp, the former chairman of Paul Weiss, defended the firm’s settlement with the Trump administration during a Harvard Law School class on April 15, telling students it was needed for the firm’s survival. @SierraRPape and @uybpham report. thecrimson.com/article/2026/4…

@KatzD @YoungEx20 If it’s possible to Stan for a big law firm, Wilmer Cutler & Pickering would be on my short list lol. They have done really important work.

@SellersCounsel I think you bill for the time it took. If you went down a rabbit hole on your own you would do the same. You may offer to write down the time as a client relations issue, but that is your choice.

Alright all you AI for Lawyers experts, I have an ethical dilemma I need you to solve for me: Assume I bill hourly. I use AI to perform a task that would have taken me an hour to do without it, but it only takes 15 minutes. Ethics would say I can only bill 15 minutes for it. But what if I spend more time because of AI? Say it sends me on a wild goose chase and I spend an hour reviewing and analyzing caselaw that isn't applicable or doesn't actually exist, and the project takes me an hour and 15 minutes. What do I bill then?

I think I have it mostly narrowed to using Claude for analysis/writing/document generation, and GPT for research/search/quick answers. Claude's analysis and prose are light-years better than GPT. Plus it can actually create documents with decent formatting. GPT gives me better results for more google-type stuff. Familiarizing myself with laws I don't deal with often, case law, finding good white pages on subjects, etc. So I think GPT is the infobot and Claude is the summer associate.

The more I experiment the more I'm convinced that if you don't have paid subscriptions to both Claude and ChatGPT you're not getting everything AI has to offer

@SlavicAgent Ya, that’s not true. I got into multiple schools on that list with a 3.3 and a high lsat. A crappy gpa from someone with a major in a hard subject at a tough school is not going to get denied with a good lsat.
