@zonelissa He won’t he’s young alot of teams woudl get him nhl time unless they get rid of nurse and have him play on the 3rd pair with emberson for the start of the seaosn
@farmer67676767@JasonGregor So was Florida not close after losing in the final after 23? They were just as far away as the hawks who finished last?
That logic makes no sense.
Hint panthers went back to back after and hawks still havnt made the playoffs.
But by your logic going into 24 they were equal
@JasonGregor You really weren’t that close bc you still came in second. If your not first you mis well be last. You accomplish same thing the first team beat out of playoffs.
Subban saying Edmonton has never been that close to winning… They lost by one goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final. You literally can’t get closer than that.
Is it too much to ask that National broadcasters know basic facts about teams in the league?
Blaming McDavid for roster construction kinda makes me laugh because you can tell everytime he's asked about Tristan Jarry in interviews that he does NOT like him
@storylinefever@Mark_K14@JasonGregor Totally agree and bowman clearly wants both guys to get a look. Seems bowman and knob are not on the same page which makes sense knob is a Jackson guy.
I bet bowman has one coaching move change before he’s on the hot seat
@KauseKyle@Mark_K14@JasonGregor I think Howard is part of the solution. He’s very good at scoring goals. Any new coach that comes in has to be open to giving him and Hutson roles— Knob burying Savoie until the last 6 weeks of the series was itself a fireable offence that hurt his development
“I enjoyed my time here. I’d love to be back. I didn’t want to discuss it (with my agent) during the year, but now we can focus on it,” Ingram on re-signing in Edmonton.
@storylinefever@Mark_K14@JasonGregor Also I wouldn’t mind a young higher upside cheap goalie to go in Ingram spot but again that will cost assets. Cossa would be a dream but that will be a first and Howard
@storylinefever@Mark_K14@JasonGregor Only issue with that is you need to pay to move jarry. And I bet they also want to try to upgrade or dump nurse that will cost assets. Only have so many things to trade. Also I think jarry has higher ceiling but that doesn’t matter much cause his Los are worse
@KauseKyle@Mark_K14@JasonGregor I think they’ll move mountains to keep Ingram over Jarry. They could also try running it back with both and hope one of the kids comes up through the A. No doubt better PK and defensive structure would help both goalies, and both have potential to be competent starters
@storylinefever@Mark_K14@JasonGregor No and he performed better than expected but we need a starter and we may be stuck with jarry so doubt they run it back
@J_TheCynic Yeah I would be fine with that then give more room to upgrade the team. I also dumped jarry in that deal so it was kind of serving two purposes
@KauseKyle I like it overall. However I am not sure on Gus. Rather have a Vladar, Stolarz, type before they established themselves. There are guys like that every year. Cheaper. Lower risk. Typically hungrier too.
Fire the coaching staff. Keep Bowman. Trade Nurse. Upgrade the D and PK. Keep Dickinson and Murphy. Sign a scoring power forward. Bring this team back healthy and roll to the cup next year. #LetsGoOilers
1. Fire Knoblauch/hire Cassidy
2. Find a way to unload 9.25
3. Get a starting goaltender
4. Fire Knoblauch
5. Inject Berezkin, Howard, AND Hutson
6. Give Hunter googly eyes and a huge tongue to make him funnier.
7. Fire Knoblauch
@deems097 I doubt you can trade Frederic. I think you give him one more year. His injury takes that much time to heal. Give him a fresh start with a new coach.
@OILfanincowtown Agreed . How can you move out kane AND perry.
The oilers management are so weird you had a wagon in 23-24 , then they just went about picking that team apart as best they could and left bones … wild
Not giving Perry what he wanted was the start of this mess of a season… guy was a heart, and soul leader on this team, and was still effective in his role. That’s the stupid turnover that needs to stop every offseason
@fleedog30@CoffeeSacred@JasonGregor Last years PK stunk in playoffs, lost foegle and McLeod and Ceci as killers. They are good in the kill but shouldn't be a difference. Also was a record setting run that was never gonna sustain.
Katz will do a full evaluation of management, coaching and players in the next few weeks. Once he decides who stays, then they have to focus on:
Solidify goaltending position.
Ensure team commits to playing sound defense.
Get better penalty killers and a better PK system.
@2003nicko 8 goals sure is a stretch. Goalies are allowed to save medium danger shots. Expected goals were only 2.6-2 for the ducks. Agree on sitting back but we didn’t give up much
Glad we won but hard to feel good about a potential comeback after that one. Ingram is the only reason it wasn’t 8-4. Awful final 50. Not sure the Oilers had more than 30 seconds of sustained o-zone time for the entire 3rd
